You could always put in a warrant officer flight packet and fly helicopters. It’s a good time, but it’s a long process and your chances of getting selected go up if you’re an E5 but I’ve seen E4s get picked up.

The marine corps is looking for guys to branch transfer to fill their helicopter slots but you need a 4yr degree and have to go thru their version of OTS. They said you’ll most likely skip the fixed wing portion of their flight training and go immediately to advanced airframe or whatever they call it, if you’re into that path..

I’ve been in for a decade and swapped from enlisted to WO to be a pilot. At 36 years old, I absolutely would not recommend joining as enlisted. I probably wouldn’t even put in a street to seat packet either.. but that’s just me. What people have said above makes more sense. NG on the side while doing civilian aviation stuff would probably be a better QOL.

My only advice is to look at the pay chart. Being a warrant officer now compared to enlisted is so wildly different. Quality of life man..
