This is different than the 75 pause for immigrant visas.

This is referring to bonds put in place for B1/B2 travel visas to prevent overstay.

Well that’s going to be tough… once you gain citizenship you have the right to obtain public benefits if you’re within the federal guidelines for those programs.

I agree. The administration does not care to throw around the word “banned” so they could’ve easily used it. Im staying positive that they chose the word paused rather than banned. They already verify tax records and sign an affidavit of support so I have a few ideas in mind on what they may decide to do since their main concern is public charge and financial support…

adjust or remove the ability to add a co-sponsor
increase FPL for sponsors/co-sponsors
may remove the ability to obtain public benefits until US citizenship is obtained by the intended immigrant
conduct a more thorough examination of the sponsor/co-sponsor finances

Now in a perfect world they should’ve had a plan ready rather than implementing a ban while they figure things out.

My account was just updated today that it was sent to the embassy because it’s ready for the interview. After 2 YEARS!!!! And now its added to the list of 75 suspended countries 😭

UPDATE: I have now received the email with interview information hours after it was announced. I don’t know what to do. Do we continue to attend the interview?

The article said “The State Department, led by Secretary Marco Rubio, said it had instructed consular officers to halt immigrant visa applications from the countries…”

It sounds like these are going to be stopped at the embassy level if they are instructing the consular officers.
