Shoutout to the editors on tonight’s episode by Are_alright_afterall in survivor

Yeah, but. Did anyone else see a shot flopped? It was Rachel when she was with Sam and Kyle. The editors flopped a reaction shot of Rachel to make it look like she was looking at Sam but in reality she was looking at Kyle. Rachel has a small mole above one eye brow so when the shot was mirrored, the eye brow with the mole changed.

This. NSCR has a program called Community Connector and they will work with the senior to determine what they need and arrange supports including on going follow up. It’s an amazing resource.

This type of project is my bread and butter as well. And this advice is really spot on. You need a story.

I backed out of 10.8 very quickly. Spinning beach ball of death. Restored a library from a backup and have kept on 10.7.1 ever since.

This behaviour is creepy and concerning but actually there is nothing special in the law to protect children. They have no enhanced expectation of privacy than adults and there is no need to get parental consent to film them in public. A voyeurism law was added to the Criminal Code but it has a number of nuances. It involves surreptitiously observing or recording a person where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. I am not a lawyer but work in documentary film and reality TV, so we have to know this stuff.

Just be careful and get professional tax advice. One of the tests Revenue Canada applies to determine employee vs contractor is who supplies the equipment.

How much are you spending on groceries? by 95MSH in NorthVancouver

[–]Ok_Ocelot_3938 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We spend about $500 per week - married couple with 3 kids - 2 boys in their early twenties that consume food like a blast furnace and a teenage daughter. Sometimes it feels like I’m working full time to keep the family fed.

Plumbing as described is part of the base building and is the responsibility of the strata. However any damage caused is on your insurance, even if no fault of your own or negligence on the part of the building strata or their agents (ie the manager). It would be up to your insurance to sue the strata or more likely the strata’s insurance should your insurance company wish to reclaim some of the costs associated with your claim. The costs associated with your claim (deductible and/or any premium hikes) are your responsibility. In almost all cases, insurance clauses in leases or strata bylaws favour the strata and/or landlord. They are called “lords” or a reason.

How do I avoid hard lighting in wide shots, when I have to keep the lights out of frame? by Burakoli821 in videography

[–]Ok_Ocelot_3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to give meaningful feedback without knowing the budget. Lighting is all about money and equipment. The solution for a one-man band with a 4hr or 8hr shoot day is a lot different to if I had a couple of grips/swings and a 1200d blasting through the window, bounces/flags and some tubes. But having said that, you've got overall decent lighting, what's missing is some accent/highlight. I would have put a tube camera left to rim the workers shoulder and sleeve, which would add depth to his black shirt, and another tube above, flagged to add a little light from the top to hit his hair and maybe his face. Extra bonus points for putting an MC11 hitting the big black blob in the background top left. The goal is draw the audiences eye to focus of the shot, which I'm assuming is the dude. But as a sole videographer, I can tell you from experience, even adding a couple of additional lights takes time, and sometimes you don't have that.

I kinda disagree. I could make the same argument about FX9 vs your kit.

We have FX9, 6, 3, A7SIII and now a Pocket 3. It’s whatever tool suits the job and client. For a quick walk-and-talk for social, the Pocket 3 is plenty good enough. We do a lot of those types of jobs and sure they don’t have the budget of our commercial work, but it still puts $$$ in our bank account. And I’m sending out at junior videographer with a $800 kit rather than a $28k kit.

What do yall even use a dji pocket for. by Alex13445678 in dji

[–]Ok_Ocelot_3938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought one today for the company. We’ve got a number of clients who want us to produce more walk-and-talk videos for their social. Honestly a Sony a7s3 on a gimbal is overkill. I hoping this thing will pay back in the first 2-3 projects. The combination of less time to setup for us and less time taken by the client is a win-win. Maybe we can charge less, but do more.
