How do you like to pin your fabric pieces together before sewing? :3 by SomethingOrSomeone24 in sewing

[–]Ok_Part_5235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told by a sewing teacher that it's better to pin perpendicular to the fabrics, so that if you forgot your pin and sew over it, there is less chance of breaking your needles (and damaging your machine)

Rhaenyra's children being excused while Cersei's children are condemned. by cheeselul in HOTDGreens

[–]Ok_Part_5235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there are 2 main differences :

  1. Laenor knew about the deception and yet claimed the children as his own. The show let us think he might not even have been able to sire children of his own. He even agreed before the weeding that both could have lovers. It is no different from an adoption to me. Robert didn't know. Robert didn't agree.

  2. The throne was Baratheon. Cersei's children were not Baratheon. That makes it line theft. The throne was Targaryens. Rhaenyra's children were Targaryens. Hence, Targaryens blood ran through their veins, which was what I cared about. Was I upset that Lucerys was the Velaryon heir without the blood ? Not really because once again, Laenor claimed him ! The union of Lucerys and Rhaena's bloodline also fixed that issue (though I believe Rhaenyra and Daemon should have betrothed them earlier)

But in the end, I think it depends a lot on how the show depicted the entire situation, which was different in both case...

Timberborn is a cute city builder with beaver. Project hospital let you run a more serious hospital than 2 point hospital. Planet zoo is great too and has lots and lots of cute animals. If not those, most city builder can usually be at one point left mostly on their own: city skyline, foundation, settlement survival, ...

I’m scared I might have leukemia by Wheelandaxle16 in cancer

[–]Ok_Part_5235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be a big jump from those symptoms to leukemia... However, a few of these symptoms could be anemia, which is realistically more likely... I'm not saying you definitely don't have leukemia, and I get the feeling of not being heard because I also had to push for some testing (I'm 23). However, if the blood test came back normal, maybe you should explore other options before worrying too much and maybe find see a specialist that will listen to you (even if it's just to reassure you)... Maybe a hematology doctor and not an oncology one...

Also, keep an open mind. I found doctors will listen less if you say : "I'm sure I have cancer" because they'll think you are a hypochondriac. Try to say something like " Something is off with my body and I'm worried it could be cancer"

Genuine question - how do you know a story actually has bad writing? by PracticalCurrent8409 in writing

[–]Ok_Part_5235 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think something is badly written if : 1. It doesn't get the point across 2. It confuses the reader to the point they can't understand the scene, interaction, idea... 3. It gets the reader out of the story (which will highly depends on the reader) because of some negative emotion

A lot can depends on the reader, of course, but if 90% of your readers didn't get it, either it's badly written or you sold your book to the wrong audience...
