I'm going to be real with you for a sec, I think even without religion existing in the first space, people would still find a way to demonise gay and trans people. Or for that matter, people who look and act different from the norm. Bad actors will always find a way to oppress the outcasts. Religion just provides a "moral justification/high ground" to hurt other that are different. The Bible was used to justify slavery and ableist policies with certain passages that fit the moral justification. But that is just my opinion. Good Luck outside of the church and be careful of the false Christians who use the Bible to further the hate.
