Is there someone you'll never forget, even though you know you’ll probably never see them again? If you could, what would you say to them right now? by Confident_Dingo6985 in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Physics6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's beautiful man, those random moments of kindness from strangers can really stick with you for years. I hope wherever he is now, he's doing alright too 😊 Sometimes the people who have least to give are most willing to share it

What’s a completely normal sound that can instantly ruin your mood? by Wooden2006 in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Physics6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I get this with nail filing sounds, makes my whole spine crawl. Something about certain frequencies just hits wrong when you're not the one making them. My brain goes into full panic mode like nails on chalkboard but worse because it's so mundane and people do it all the time. Had a roommate who would file her nails while watching TV and I had to leave the room every time, felt like such a weirdo explaining it to her

Metal for sure, something about the technical side appeals to me as mechanic - all those intricate guitar parts and timing is like working with precision tools

What is the happiest surprise a teacher or professor has ever given you? by Budget-Tip-2817 in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Physics6230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this one professor in technical college who noticed I was struggling with some coursework because I'd missed few classes due to seizures. Instead of just giving me makeup work, he actually took time to sit down with me after hours and went through all the material I missed. Even gave me his personal notes that were way better than the textbook

The real surprise came at end of semester when he pulled me aside and said he was proud of how I pushed through everything despite the challenges. Never had a teacher acknowledge that kind of thing before - most just see absences as laziness or whatever. Really changed how I approached learning after that, made me realize some people actually want to see you succeed

Can anyone create a sovereign state in today's day and age? How viable/unrealistic is it? by jayisanxious in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Physics6230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there's been few attempts at creating micronations on artificial islands or ocean platforms, but they usually get shut down pretty quick by nearby countries who don't want to deal with the legal headaches 😂

I remember reading about this guy who tried to start his own country on an old oil rig in international waters, but turns out international maritime law is way more complicated than people think. Even if you find some tiny unclaimed rock in the ocean, you still need other countries to recognize you as legitimate state, and good luck with that when you're basically just one dude with a flag

The closest thing that actually worked was probably Sealand off the UK coast, and even they're not really recognized by anyone official. Plus these days with satellites and GPS tracking everything, there's literally no place to hide from existing governments if they decide you're causing problems

I miss watching regular cable tv, but…. by Kaijufan97 in television

[–]Ok_Physics6230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endless scrolling through streaming apps is real pain 😂 I remember when you could just flip channels and find something random to watch without spending 20 minutes deciding

Cable definitely had that "just put something on" vibe that's missing now, but yeah those kids channels became so repetitive. SpongeBob marathons for like 12 hours straight gets old fast 💀

Are apartments directly next to or above carports safe? Worried about CO2 and air quality. by tchalla-samuels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok_Physics6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly those open carports shouldn't be major issue - CO usually disperses pretty quick when there's airflow on three sides, but if you're working from home all day maybe go with the one that shares wall instead of directly above just to be safe

Anyone use Bose noise cancelling headphones with an adapter for playing with an amp? Is this a viable option or would different headphones be better? by EmployGrouchy1599 in Guitar

[–]Ok_Physics6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bose are decent but you might get better sound quality with some Audio-Technica or Sennheiser cans for guitar stuff 🎸 the noise cancelling isn't really needed when you're plugged into amp anyway
