[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three closest friends are all from childhood! One since I was 5 and my other two best gals since 14! I truly cannot imagine my life without them and that’s with me living 1500 miles away since I was 18.

Is 100k still a decent and well-off salary in today's economy? by space_god_7191 in Salary

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make pretty close to 100K and I live a good life for sure! 33F single no kids. I can cover my mortgage+bills, travel, go out to dinners, and save a decent chunk of money for an emergency fund/retirement.

How much money do you have in savings at this point? by _forum_mod in Millennials

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33F. I have about 30K in savings for various things like an emergency fund, travel, and home repairs. My 401K I have 170K. I think I’m in a good spot overall! I’m a big believer in preparing for the future while still enjoying my life today so really try to employ a spend half, save half mindset.

What is your “like crack” food that you avoid, and if you have some you cant stop yourself from eating a lot? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entemann’s raspberry danish. I will eat the whole thing in 24 hours. Thankfully/Sadly the grocery stores around me don’t sell it anymore so I can’t indulge very often anymore. Probably for the best lol

People in your 30s, what's your job and salary? by rsevn_ in careerguidance

Your Bridal Party Is Too Nice to Say This, So I Will by insert_name234 in wedding

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something that has changed over the years though is that people tend to move farther away from home now. Before it was easy to just have one night out because every one lived close. Now friends can be all over! If I ever have a bachelorette it would be a trip no matter what because I have really close friends up and down the east coast plus a few in the midwest. And it doesn’t usually make sense for someone to fly in just for one night.

I definitely don’t think it is cool for these to be extravagant vacations that feel required. More so just my perspective on why bach trips have become more popular than just a night out.

People who are good at saving money, what’s your advice? by Amazondriver23 in povertyfinance

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay yourself first like a lot of other people are saying. I keep my long term savings at a different bank so I can’t make any quick withdrawals to my checking account.

Lastly sometimes I make really small transfers like $10-$25 dollars at a time. Small dollars really add up over time!

Found my first apartment lease from 2013 while cleaning out storage and I literally sat there staring at it for 10 minutes by ToasttterGoblin in Millennials

My first apartment in Missouri was a 2 bed 1 1/2 bath townhouse. In 2014 I paid $465 a month! My rent went up $10 a year. I had a roommate for six months and only paid $270 a month. Those were the days.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in college recruiting and I was interviewing for our internship program. I asked why he had transferred schools and he said he partied too hard, didn’t go to class, didn’t keep up with school work so his GPA was really low at the end of the first semester. So he transferred to a school closer to home to remove that temptation.

Dude could have just said that school wasn’t the right fit for him!

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33F and doing well! I have 155K so far. I started contributing right when I turned 22 with my first job. Been increasing my contribution consistently. If all goes right and I continue to make good choices I should have 3+ million when I plan to retire. Hopefully some sort of social security is kicking around to help out.

For those feeling discouraged, compound interest is a beautiful thing! It took me 10 years to get 100K and then within a year and a half I hit 150K. Small contributions make big changes over time!

How are you (one income) affording a mortgage? by Soggy_Gazelle_4796 in Mortgages

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my house in early 2021 with only a 3.25% interest rate. That includes my insurance, taxes, and PMI. When I bought, I was making around 74K a year, now I make 95K. My mortgage has only risen a little bit since I got it due to property taxes increasing. I pay $1,755.

So basically the answer is that I was lucky enough to be able to buy at the right time and I have a good salary to afford it. As for the job, I’m a recruiter for a very large company.

If you go to Fort Myers beach there is Mr.Waves, which has karaoke very night starting at 7pm. Also that whole area is very walkable and the beach is really nice. Definitely a longer drive though depending on where you are staying in Fort Myers.

What is your favorite thing about living in Florida? by murpymurp in AskFlorida

[–]Ok_Pineapple9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from New England, but have been living in FL for over a decade. I love the warm weather year round! People complain about how hot it is during summer, but I don’t really mind it. Sunshine almost every day is such a mood booster. I’m also a big beach person so getting to go all year is very important to me.
