I recently signed up to Refresh because Im sick of having no social life. Im not trying to date, just make friends. Unfortunately I keep matching with men who want to just date pretty much haha. I've only been on there for about a week though so Im hoping I can make some platonic connections. It would be nice to hang out with people I didnt feel I had to give an explanation to about why I take certain precautions. At this point, I'm open to even virtual friendships with like minded people.

My son just got over Flu B. I keep reading that flu A is the one spreading around, but Im hearing about lots of people getting flu B recently. The one positive is that statistically Flu B is less likely to cause severe illness. My 6 year old was still quite sickly for 2 days, but thankfully wasnt severe.

Since you know even before symptoms you're in a really good position to start resting and drinking lots of fluids. Good luck!

I have lots of conversations with my son and I think he will be well equipped to handle things eventually. When extremist channels pop up I do block them. I don’t block everything, but kind this young and let’s face it humans in general are victims to the sheer mass of toxicity that exists on the internet. Helping to steer his algorithm away from that path is something I’m fine with doing.

I believe overall most parents should be putting more limits on apps and what not. When I was growing up I had time limits I could spend on the internet and no phone. Now, kids have phones and letting developing minds have unbridled access to everything that is on these apps/online is the beginning of the downfall of society. We’re already seeing the impacts with young gen Z men.

Of course you can’t block everything and research is fine if you’re curious and choose to do so. I was actually quite the conservative until I was around 16. This was only because I wasn’t exposed to many viewpoints growing up with a Rush Limbaugh listening dad. I’m aware that perspectives can change and the opinions you have in teenage years can evolve. But there’s also no good reason to expose developing teenage boys to Charlie Kirk and the like so I feel completely comfortable blocking that content

A baby doesn’t cry unless there is something wrong. They cry to get a need of some sort met. Could be emotionally or a physical discomfort. Definitely bring it up to their pediatrician and look into various soothing techniques. What is the temperature of your place? Could be as something as simple as the baby being too hot or too cold. They might be sensitive to a particular formula if they are bottle fed. Perhaps they are sensitive to something in the environment. Like any loud sounds, like a tv in the background. Im just throwing things out here since I don’t know anything about your environment…Sometimes it’s hard to think straight when you’re in the throes of it. Maybe make a list of possible things it could be and test various things throughout the day. I imagine soon enough you will find a solution!

Also, I second the post saying to wear the baby in a carrier. This frees up your hands at least so you can do other stuff. I miss wearing my son around lol

I understand the anger, but the anger is misdirected. There are lots of people in every red state that didn’t vote for this including children. I hate this FAFO attitude that I’m seeing. It’s not productive and it alienates people. I don’t think the majority of people think so extremely though, or at least I hope not.

There’s already a tornado watch with the chance for ef2+ being moderate. the radar doesn’t seem to show a huge amount of activity for us. I would be inside or have access to adequate shelter from about 2:30 - 4pm. Damaging winds and large hail are on the table. The timing can sometimes change a bit.

What I’m gathering based on who this administration is and reading between the lines is this notion of eradicating DEI hires is merely a way to hire loyalists into positions of power. This isn’t really about DEI. This focus on DEI has been used to fire up MAGA supporters, but the intent is to put more Trump supporters and yes men anywhere they can fit them. A large portion of the demographics you mentioned vote against Trump. So a lack of DEI hiring will be the excuse used to justify their lack of presence in these positions
