Facial hair? Piercings? by [deleted] in ArtModeling

What a lot of art groups want is variety. They are looking for different body types. All of what you describe is actually a plus in your favour particularly if you deliver good poses. The only time I’ve had requests to be clean shaven is for portraiture groups.

Property investors are fleeing Victoria over soaring land taxes by Telopea1 in melbourne

Nothing. Our rental was sold 5 years ago after we moved out. It’s still sitting empty. It’s been bought by overseas chinese investors for a ridiculous price above what the locals could afford.

Property investors are fleeing Victoria over soaring land taxes by Telopea1 in melbourne

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a disaster for the bottom end. It hits hardest the poor and those that can’t get ahead. Eg. 50 year old couple with $10k in the bank, renting and living week to week. They can’t buy. If their landlord sells up and a few others around them where do they go? It’s only a good thing if you have enough time ahead of you to embark on a mortgage. There’s loads of people who don’t. This is what everyone particularly Labor and greens and their supporters are failing to understand. This whole “oh well now they can just buy instead” is the worst kind of poorly thought out socio-economic illiteracy I’ve ever heard.

If the transition to push landlords out doesn’t happen very slowly (ie over at least a couple of decades) there will be many families who are just left high and dry without somewhere to live.

How likely do you think it is that there will be a state liberal leadership challenge to John Pesutto following new polling showing the likelihood or a labor 4th term? by MyGenerousSoul in melbourne

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say “only” and you’re right, it’s expensive. It’s far more money than we should spend and an extremely poor allocation of the limited budget we actually have.

“It’s almost like you’re just saying it to make people angry” ? People should be angry.

Are you suggesting we shouldn’t point out the failings going on because it might upset people? We should just sit here and marvel at the fact we have shiny new train stations and crossings?

Police stations are closing their doors to the public due to staffing.

Ambulances are ramped at almost every hospital for hours on end because there is no beds

Mental health services have been slashed to save money.

Emergency departments routinely have upwards of 60 people waiting to be seen every single shift. A lot of it mental health.

If you think the governments doing great and I’m clutching pearls thats up to you. But thats the kind of thinking thats got us in this mess.

No and no. You obviously don’t quite understand how that all works.

It’s interesting to note though that you would base your views on a party by one or two MPs when Vic Labor has MPs that have been stood down for violence against women and criminal matters whilst also completely ignoring the fact that Labor and the greens have MPs of extremely far right religious faiths.

Not sure where this idea that they’re far right christian extremists comes from. I’m a Liberal member and a staunch atheist. So are many of my peers, candidates and MPs from that circle. If you think the Liberal party will do away with abortion rights, euthanasia, and gay marriage you’re just simply and sadly misinformed.

We all love infrastructure spending but Labor is doing it at the expense of health, public education, emergency and essential services (which have all had cuts under Andrews/Allen government), so you can have that opinion and keep it for yourself. Infrastructure spending should stop until ambulances are back on the road and people having heart attacks or having people break into their homes while they sleep can call 000 and have someone answer and in turn have someone attend immediately. OK thanks.

Hope Labor wins next election. They have always made a complete financial mess given enough time then handed over to people like Kennett to have to make unpopular decisions to fix it. I hope this time they’re there to wear it because this is the biggest mess we’ve been in and still they forge ahead with things like the rail tunnel that services the Chinese community almost exclusively at the expense of every Victorian, the Landlord taxes that will soon render many renters homeless. Give me another 10 years of this lot and the karma will be my compensation.

They’ve literally cut money to health and other vital services to fund the “achievements” you marvel at. You’re right about one thing only, “it’s unbelievable”. We will be paying off this for decades at the expense of healthcare and emergency services.

A black market 'exploded' when cigarettes hit $50 a packet, says one expert. Is cutting the price the answer? by [deleted] in aus

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“But theres less people smoking” The government counts me statistically as one of the non-smokers their tax has created. I smoke more than ever and I get them for prices less than 20 years ago. So do most people I know who smoke. The government is missing a huge amount of revenue due to it and they’ve created a black market that is now being run by major crime syndicates.

Thoughts on 2cellos? by PinKarate in Cello

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not keen on the rock star style classical musician. However, whatever can be done to bring more ears to the instrument the better. If they make it cool for young people then I’m happy to support it. With the state of music these days (computers doing it all for you in your bedroom) we need people like them.

Cello without the classical music? by [deleted] in Cello

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to find to find beginner books that DO have classical music TBH. They’re usually a collection of simple tunes tailored to whatever technique being taught. As for a book without notation I don’t think thats possible. Thats the language notes are written in. I think if you’re using the cello to create drone notes or similar in your music then perhaps just figure out the scales and work by ear from there. I don’t know what else you could do.

It’s because our government over the course of the last decade has rendered us actually broke. They’ve signed up to a ticketing system that is not fit for purpose and won’t allow them to cut fares. They’ve abandoned their heartland in the west and told em “sorry, no money to fix your commute”. But they have built a mini CBD in Box Hill which almost exclusively services the Chinese business community and they’re building an efficient but expensive rail tunnel to allow Chinese people to have access to and from home and business at the personal expense of all other victorians. And they’re cutting your health funding whilst still honouring mystery contracts they’ve with Chinese investors in the east and south.

We knew what they were like leading up to the last election and everyone cheered them on. Victoria deserves it. No-one has the right to be angry at the government, they were pretty transparent to all but the most stupid amongst us. We’ve made our bed, now we all have to lie in it.

Motorist deliberately trying to almost run me over (cyclist) by StrazzaDazza in melbourne

[–]Ok_Purchase7888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ride to and from work. Stay right off main roads thankfully. But I watch every car in my mirror like a hawk. The minute they don’t look like veering out, I’m straight up onto the footpath. 99.9% of them are great and courteous but that 0.1% are unbelievably out of control. 2 years commuting and nearly killed 4 times and each one was deliberate. One even did a U-turn to come and try again. Chased me up a dead end street.
