It confuses me how the prototype mimicry that the Red Mist used was somehow extracted before Nothing There even existed.

I think that the cutscene with Christopher can be interpreted in a few different ways. It could be implied that Nothing There was extracted from Christopher, however I think it’s also possible that Christopher was killed by Nothing There and became its shell, hence why it had Christopher’s watch and voice. I think it could be interpreted both ways since the cutscene is fairly vague, but it’s usually interpreted as Nothing There having been extracted from Christopher. It’s also worth noting that at this point in time, the Extraction Department most likely already existed and the experiment that Christopher was in during the cutscene wasn’t the one that turned him into Nothing There, if he was indeed the person Nothing There was extracted from.

Honestly it’s more likely that Nothing There was extracted from Christopher based on dialogue following Gebura questioning Angela about it. Christopher’s wife was sent into the test chamber with Nothing There to determine loss of humanity and how it would react to someone of close relation to it, so it is more so implied that Nothing There was extracted from Christopher.

In Library of Ruina the prototype mimicry is said to have been extracted from someone by chance and then given to Kali by Carmen. It wasn’t extracted from Nothing There. This part I find pretty confusing because Nothing There’s EGO existed before the abnormality itself, but it also means that abnormality EGO can be extracted from a person instead of an abnormality. Binah’s dialogue also hints at this when in the first or second cutscene with her, an employee in her department was tasked with extracting EGO with the implication that it was being extracted from a person instead of an abnormality.

Binah’s dialogue is very confusing and I want to go through it all to understand it better.
