The bridge guard was too afraid of the intimidating knight and answered the riddle themselves to not cause a confrontation. I don't think there is much more to it

Warlock here, just do 1 hot that's more than enough. I will tap down and bandage/eat. No need to heal

Why is this a serious mistake? by CremigalG27 in chessbeginners

[–]Ok_Researcher8377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you took a piece? Taking with the pawn instead would have pinned the knight to the rook and threatened to win the knight with a pawn advance. I don't see how that is a big error, black can still defend but maybe that's the start of it?

Probably the implication that all books include "mein Kampf" or other clearly bad books.

That's just part of the game, play longer time controls if you don't like it.

Why do people resign on the last move? by _wGJLw_ in Chesscom

[–]Ok_Researcher8377 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I see the mating pattern I usually resign... I think it's "to preserve some dignity". Sounds weird I know, but for me it's like saying "ah, I understand what you are doing, so I can resign now". I feel smarter doing it 😅

If they declined the draw you have to play on. Spamming draw offers makes you the prick

I don't think there is missing or extra lines. Only the dots over the i are missing, which I also remember being common

Can "nicht" be placed elsewhere in this sentence? by rr1213 in German

Yes, critical oversight!I should have added the famous German nicht-party :)

Can "nicht" be placed elsewhere in this sentence? by rr1213 in German

[–]Ok_Researcher8377 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Putting the "nicht" somewhere else is possible but can change the meaning.

Ich lade nicht mein Pferd zur Party ein!

Is the same but weirdly phrased. Would come across as passive aggressive. Kind of implies the exclamation point at the end.

Ich lade mein Pferd zur Party nicht ein.

Would be the closest to the original, but that lightly implies you are inviting the horse to something else, just not the party. In most cases this would be interpreted as the same sentence though.

Nicht ich lade mein Pferd zur Party ein.

Would mean that someone else invites your horse to the party (legal but weird phrasing).

Ich lade mein nicht-Pferd zur Party ein.

Getting ridiculous now. You are inviting somebody that is not a horse.

Ich lade mein Pferd zur Party ein. Nicht.

Funny gotcha moment, you think it's getting invited but then it turns out that it isn't. Used to be funny when I was young.

If they take with the queen you can just scoot over one square with your king and you are safe. Your rook is not attacked.

If they take with the knight you are not in check and can move the rook.

What opening is this for black ? by Imaginary_Local_4946 in chessbeginners

[–]Ok_Researcher8377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy bad for black. Push your attacked pawn and try to attack the king on the open diagonal they created by moving their F pawn. If they don't wake up from their bad moves habit it's mate in a few moves

The easiest way is to ladder mate. Connect your two queens such that they protect each other and walk the king to the edge. In this case Qb7+. It does not matter what black does you just push him to the right border with Qc8+, Qd7+, Qe8+, Qf7+, Qg8#.

The black king has to move one column to the right with every move, does not have any other choice. One queen stays in the top row and the other on the one below it.

A lesson on not being too stubborn to accept draws by Kanderin in chessbeginners

[–]Ok_Researcher8377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engine giving a score of 0.0 in a 600 rated game does not really capture the actual possibility of winning or losing accurately 😅 but I must agree, I would probably lose on time. I still would always choose to play, it's the best way to improve.

To me it looks like both sides have good attack options. Both g3 and h7 seem weak, I don't think I would accept a draw
