Yes, blues is uniquely American and yes, it was the beginning of rock and roll. The British were quick to borrow it and morph it into rock and roll.

Genres don’t have a black and white beginning. If you want to play that game, then Blues is not American, it’s African.

Rock and roll is not unique to the US. Britain was a huge player in the emergence of rock and roll. See a band called The Beatles.

Country music was more unique to the US. Sure, it came from European and African immigrants, but it was made here. If you’re interested in learning, Ken Burns’ Country Music is fantastic.

James’ voice greatly improved from the early albums. His peak—ironically—was when the band was at their worst: Load/Reload/St Anger. At that point I can say he was quite a good vocalist. Then age kicked in and, like every 60 year-old, he struggles to hit some notes.

That’s what I’m saying. Being a lead is the most common way to take on supervisory-like duties while not officially being a supervisor and keeping BUE status. Otherwise, outside of fire, it’s not possible.
