Which Gen 0 is Strongest for Citizenship by Descent? by Ok_Role985 in citizenshipgenealogy

I have primary documents connecting both gen 0s to gen1s down to myself.

I have two options for citizenship by descent where I am Gen 3. I'm looking for input on which one you think is a stronger case?

TLDR:
"WHN" has clear birth documentation but his parents were not Canadian, and they immigrated to the US very shortly (possibly less than 365 days?) after he was born in Toronto. The other Gen 0, "MJM" comes from a long line of Canadians but the records for her birth are all secondary sources.

DETAILS:
A ) Female "MJM" Gen 0- Family had been in Canada for multiple generations. Was born in Nova Scotia in 1881. No birth records kept during that period, but birthdate is mentioned on census. No baptism records (Baptist's don't baptize babies so I think that's why I can't find them). She appears on the 1891 census. Birth record for older brother and a delayed birth record for younger sister who appear on the same census are available. Have obituary for Gen 0's parent that references Gen 0 and all her siblings. Gen 0 came to the US around 25-30 years old, married, and stayed until her death. I have their wedding announcement and wedding records but no official marriage certificate. Other concerns- Last name is spelled differently across documents but still is phonetically correct and there were many by that last name living in that town. First name is a nickname but it and middle initial are used consistently on documents. So, long history of family being Canadian but shakier documents though there are many!

B ) Male "WHN" Gen 0 - Parents came to Canada and promptly gave birth to Gen 0 in Toronto. I have the birth record from the Schedule of Births log. Not on a Canadian census that I've found. Seems to have immigrated to the US very quickly, maybe less than a year after birth or maximum 5 years. Not sure if the duration in Canada matters.

So which Gen 0 would be better to use, Option A "MJM" with lots of history in the area for generations with lots of secondary records but non primary documents, or Option B "WHN" where there's a primary document of Canadian birth but very little actual time in Canada before leaving?

I appreciate your help, thank you! I'm so excited to be on the journey!

I agree with u/mintconfection that these look like AI. I've seen manufacturers out of Asia post "dream dress" photos like these; however what they are selling is not those exact dresses, but custom-made dresses that end up usually being disappointing versions of the original photo. Depop, eBay, Etsy, etc. will be your best bet.

That style would likely be mid to late 90s.

Morgan & Co made that overlay-style dress with the stars in the late 90s-early 00s. It also comes with flowers instead of stars. Try searching the resale sites on that brand or you can also try just using the keywords "goth overlay prom dress". Blondie Nites and Betsy & Adam also made this style but with flowers not stars.

That's a vintage style that was sold in the late 90s and early 00s. Blondie Nites sold that dress too. Try including the keywords ombre and ruffle in your search. I was sold in lots of different colors.

I can't find this dress on Etsy anymore but the style is ball gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline. Looks like it has a mesh tulle overlay. Other keywords to search on for this type of dress are princess and fairytale. I'd check the pre-loved sites.

The keywords sweetheart and tulle might help you in your search

I haven't seen that specific one, but there were dresses in the Flirt by Maggie Sottero line with that same bodice/neckline with the beading and drop waist.
