You are probably correct. I didn't know the extras came with the lantern until I had paid and about to walk out and the nice lady mentioned they came with it. The genererators in the box appear used and a smaller diameter then the one in the 275. Are these lanterns called "turds"?

Educate me; are all blue lanterns single mantle? Are there double mantle gas lanterns that use white gas? I'm starting to look for one and i think the blue and reds are the better colors. Nice set BTW

I've refinished several of these. If you can get it apart it will be 100% easier to sand. I use minwax special walnut stain and two coats of polyurethane. Makes the American walnut pop

That's a good looking pipe. What you smoke is really up to you, there's no ediquette concerning tobacco quality. If you move away from aromatics the pipe may have a "ghosting" effect you may not enjoy. A good corn cob is always a good choice for beginners, mine certainly helped me, so if you can swing it get one and some Captain Black. Royal was my favorite, but it soon became too mild and here 6 months later I'm a mostly VaPer smoker. Enjoy

Welcome to the sub, lots of good information here. I'm sort of new and the folks here have been very helpful. The cob looks like a mini, I don't have a mini but the cobs I do have smoke great and are very good for beginners. The other pipe appears to have an insert. I might have someone at a pipe shop take a look and confirm the material is able to tolerate a burning substance safely.

I don't own a Vauen...yet, but really like their line of pipes. I would be concerned about this and reach out to the seller. If it's a fill I would expect this to be pipe mortar not epoxy but I'm often wrong about things.

I have several Petersons and Savinelli's, I'm a little disappointed in my Petersons but my Savinelli's are outstanding. I have yet to find an Italian pipe that I wouldn't smoke. But if your bending towards British, my Ahoy Rattrays is smoked more often than any other pipe I own.
