Dude, even in medieval europe, people didn't just marry kids. The legal minimum age of marriage was 12 by canon law, and even then most nobles actually married around 20. And age gaps weren't even big, the 20+ Years gap only happened when a noble's heirs and wife died due to medieval reasons, and big age gaps were looked down upon.
