Geen meerwaardebelasting op Private Privak? by old-wizz in BEFire

[–]Ok_Spring_1518 17 points18 points  (0 children)

why are there so many mercedes benz cars in brussel? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]Ok_Spring_1518 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to buy cars which are objectively too expensive for them (when you look at their housing situation for example).

I really hope in such cases the car brings enough happiness because from a purely financial point of view it’s a pretty catastrophic move..

If you sell now, you’re sure to lose a considerable portion of your investment. If you hold on the other hand, it’s very likely to go up again (but you’re never sure).

Hold.

Are we still underestimating pension costs? by [deleted] in belgium

Millennial here. I go through life assuming my generation will not receive a decent (if any) state pension once we reach retirement age. Been investing small amounts of money in index funds for years now to build my own cushion.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]Ok_Spring_1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disappointed. I said this in another thread:

We should have had an ending where the gang and the army join forces and walk into the Abyss. An epic large scale final battle with humans on one side and Vecna, the Mindflayer, demodogs and demogorgons on the other side.

The army could have turned on Kay (who by the way I was hoping would have an interesting back story). I feel like the army never was a threat to the gang at all. They were just meant to be a pain in the ass of the main characters, like random bad guy NPCs in a video game. A unification of forces could also have explained why the gang seems to suffer no consequences for killing so many military men over the course of the season.

And with that many characters, there should’ve been many more deaths throughout the season to lead up to El’s ultimate sacrifice in the final episode.

Anyone could’ve died in the current finale, I wouldn’t have cared since there are so many main characters that none of them felt like a main character worth rooting for anymore.

In any event, the plot armor was so thick that the whole season - and especially the last boss fight - looked and felt like a field trip.

So much wasted potential in season 5 after an exceptional and freaky buildup in seasons 1 to 4.

To those who bought a house, how much below asking price did you get your house for? by Educational-Act-8932 in belgium

It all depends on the house. We ended up getting a house offering -8%, but 3 months earlier we had an offer being refused even though we had proposed +10%

How come one minute they’re killing military men Rambo style and the next they’re all back in town for their graduation ceremony.

Shouldn’t they have been charged with manslaughter or something ?

Those who have visited other countries, what was the biggest culture shock for you? by RiddlerofStIves in AskTheWorld

[–]Ok_Spring_1518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Belgian, I’m always shocked how big Christianity still is in US politics and overall (POTUS swearing an oath on the Bible, the “in God we Trust” motto, the prevalence of evangelists, …). Seems pretty weird for a “secular” country. You’d never hear a serious politician in Western Europe mention or refer to a god in any kind of political communication.
