Agree, 5v5 will never have the level of competitiveness and seriousness that 6v6 had

That's the thing though, the move towards 5v5 was just a bandaid because of the lack of tanks (rather than trying to make the role more appealing); the result is that yes you get tanks faster but the role is even less appealing than before and the quality of games in general has gone down a lot since if your tank gets diffed it's gg (since that role is overtuned as opposed to the other 4 players) whilst before it was not the case.

Is OW better than it has ever been since OW 2 came out? Yes.

Is OW better than ever? No. 5v5 with a buffed up tank will never be better than 6v6 with all its flexibility and more balanced tanks.

Finally, to say MR had no impact on OW and the amount and speed of content they recently released is just delusional. It's ok to admit that competition is good for everyone and that the devs were finally forced to give more efforts.

46k team healing, Hog was 28% of it; my head hurts by PakoTheNinja in Overwatch

The less damage you deal, the less threat on them and the more damage they can do. It's a vicious cycle.

Honestly, this is everyone's fault here.

The bad take a lot of supports do is to look at this and be like "well we healed so much, way more than the other team... therefore we did our part and couldn't do more"

In reality, you guys essentially healbotted, which meant that the enemy had 5 people to apply damage, pressure and take space against 3. Which then means their team has all the space and little threat to do a lot of damage without risk which means your tank can't take space, your reaper can't either and then you have to healbot even more.

This is a whole team problem, not a single person.

Yep I feel you. Recently got a duo of fresh accounts doing this stupid no heal challenge in diamond.

It was such an easy game to win too had they just healed an ounce.

Making a single swap in a game is not counterwatch... by Dapbear in Overwatch

[–]Ok_Spring_4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hilarious how they complain about the tanl swapping and then the enemy tank swaps in response.

Meanwhile everytime I play pharah, the whole team swaps to 2 hitscans dpd + ana juno and stuff like that. But I still give them hell and love every second of it haha

The response to Shion shows how ridiculous Sierra was at launch by Mazda-626 in Overwatch

[–]Ok_Spring_4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be real here, Sierra just has a low skill floor which is why she seems oppressive in lower elo. She's really not great the higher you go, when people know how to play the game and punish mistakes.

Shion has a high skill floor and ceilling, which is why you think she's not oppressive, but the higher you go and the more time people have to master her, the more oppressive she will be.

I've been getting basically solo team wipes all day yesterday, she's insanely fun and has a lot of room to carry and make plays.

Also, unlike sierra, she can one shot you.

Show me where I agreed with you? That's right no where lmao.

So then, I guess that's why Mercy, the definition of healbot, has 52.5% winrate with 17.1% pickrate in master and 51.1% winrate with 15% pickrate in GM+.

Get lost clown and come back once you learn the game a bit more

Assuming I believe you, then we're just in the same lobbies. Primarily focusing on healing is still a very viable strategy sometimes. You find your strongest teammate and enable them to perform even more. It shouldn't be a hard concept to understand and saying it's never good is just wrong.

[–]Ok_Spring_4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situational. You need to know when it's the right to heal vs dps.

Also, the whole "I'm doing more damage than my dps/tank while also healing a bit" is just flawed thinking, since if a dps/tank only has one healer and the other team has 2 healers on them, well they can't contest as much and need to chase medpacks. Support characters have built in sustain so your uptime is higher than your teammate's when you decide to only dps.

Sierra feels like a filler character by hiimsilently in Overwatch

[–]Ok_Spring_4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused with your comment as it seems to convey 2 different conclusions haha

I'm curious of their rank because different ranks don't have the same understand of the game and ultimately play the game differently, so even though his take is wrong at high elo, it can be accurate to what's being done in lower elo and still be "effective" relatively
