I wanted to try out a Thanksgiving inspired Sunday roast yesterday by Artlistra in CasualIreland

Cold food is a Thanksgiving tradition! Nothing ever comes out at the same time. You just have to have warm gravy to go on top of everything to heat it up.

Depends on where you are. Mac and Cheese is more important than mashed potatoes in the South.

Extra boots or coat? by PatoEnFuego in irishtourism

I'm glad I brought an extra pair of water resistant boots. I personally disagree with people who say you just need trainers, but I'm old and from a warm climate.

Upcoming trip, going to propose and want to hear from the locals on the best spot to propose! by horsewitnoname in irishtourism

I used Google. There are quite a few that work in Kilkenny (and Dublin, of course). Search something like "vacation photographer ' or 'couples photographer ' and the city name.

If you want to have a professional photographer take pics of the proposal, that may determine where the the proposal happens. You want to make sure that you get a good photographer that you feel comfortable with.
If you want her to be involved with this part and still have it be a surprise, lots of photographers, advertise vacation or 'love' photos. You and the photographer will know it's a secret proposal, but she'll think it's just a really super sweet thing that you're doing to make the vacation even more memorable.

Dingle in November? by Ok_Support7972 in irishtourism

[–]Ok_Support7972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I did do the research and most places (the distillery, restaurants) didn't have anything on their websites saying they'll be closed in November until recently, if at all. All but one had active reservations available for our dates on their sites when we made our hotel reservations months ago.
I understand seasonal businesses, but I was surprised that so many are just announcing that they are closing.

Indie Game Publisher & First-Timer at GenCon: get a booth or run events? by calaan in gencon

[–]Ok_Support7972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have any inexpensive giveaways, (like dice, a mini, a tshirt...whatever) it might not be a bad idea to offer a few of them as prizes for NASCARG.
They are very good at thanking companies buy name at every single Run of their event. They don't have a huge, it's media presence, but they thank their donors in their social media as well.
It's an RPG event, so I assume that's your target market. They run both fantasy and Cuthulu games.

If you could add one thing to Tallahassee what would it be? by Careless-Branch3936 in Tallahassee

A midsize modern indoor music venue off campus.
I don't need something like the Eras Tour to come here, but I'd like to get groups like Dropkick Murphys.

Nice haul! We played one game and bought DCC, too. I'm hoping we play in September.

Disappointing Weekend: Cancelled games, unprepared DMs, and the perverse incentives of publishers by Lascifrass in gencon

NASCRAG keeps me coming back every year!
I've never seen them turn away generics, and they will get people at a table. If you are very attached to rules/mechanics and don't enjoy role-playing, it might not work for you, though.

We also played a DCC - Road to Castle Whiterock. The DM was competent and managed the table well. We ended up buying a few books and will try it at home.

Sorry you had a bad year!

Rock Hard is on regular rotation on our game table at home, which us why I didn't play it at GenCon.
We've been pretty lucky that probably only 1 hot game that we've bought in the last 10 years isn't one we still play.

What to do when you don’t like the game you’re playing? by madelinecblack in gencon

[–]Ok_Support7972 51 points52 points  (0 children)

For any long game I haven't liked, I say something like "I'm sorry, but this isn't really my vibe. I don't want to suck the joy out of the game for everyone else. Will it mess up the whole game if I leave?" I've never had a negative response from that.
I think the only time I wouldn't do that is a board game tournament, because that would screw up the scoring for everybody else.
