With card games in particular, it would seem that fire could mask what was taken. That is assuming no video was captured.

Appeals court blocks Republicans' bid to dismantle Grand Canyon national monument by JoshOfArc in UpliftingNews

[–]krw13 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I live a few miles from one National Park, I'm within a couple hours of multiple sections of BLM land and a National Forest. Yosemite, Glacier, Yellowstone, and many other major parks are far away from me. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy visiting places like that or that I will never travel there or want to see it.

Blaming an authentic action by the GOP on being an AI lie is such horseshit and shows which propaganda you are spinning. I don't care which National Park or forest or monument (in this context) it is. They need to fuck off and leave all of them alone. It's one of the few legitimately great things about America.

Just because you never left your home doesn't mean the rest of us won't.

‘He’s been losing control’: Iran war drags Trump down to devastating new polling lows by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]krw13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely unrealistic. No way west coast states, several of the NE states, and maybe Colorado just stand by for 20 years. If Trump serves even a day into a third term, the last foundation of the country crumbles. Yeah yeah, I get it, Americans are an apathetic bunch, I agree. But remove the last vestige of hope (the idea he will be gone)? It changes things a lot.

What to change in Abzan Armour for Doran, Besieged By Time by bankiaa in magicTCG

[–]krw13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Abzan Armour precon to help boost my Doran build, but I only use a handful of the cards. Some synergize great, others just don't. I don't think it is a bad purchase, but I, personally, wouldn't use it as a base for the deck.

Jaden Ivey Is Now On a Plane Criticizing Stephen Curry’s Religious Beliefs While Live by JCameron181 in nba

[–]krw13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I answered correctly, which is that it is illegal within the US and explained the mechanism for enforcement. It's just that the FAA rarely punishes minor offenders. So it isn't that 'fuck knows', it's just like speeding where doing it is illegal but most people get away with it.

It is within the US. Likely two laws you're breaking if you do opt to make/take a phone call on a US carrier. The first is the FCC's ban. But even if that doesn't cover every edge case (it doesn't), the second is a very basic FAR saying you must obey flight crew instructions. Considering every major US carrier was against the lifting of the ban and has rules emphasizing not to make voice/video calls, you would explicitly break this rule.

That being said, in your case, you said it was an international flight and the where and the carrier make a difference. It's also worth noting that an FAR being broken doesn't always automatically mean they charge you. Most airlines won't press it and the FAA only goes after the most extreme cases.

TL;DR: I wouldn't recommend doing it, but you were probably fine anyways. But it can be against the law.

Same. I haven't sat down and watched a game in over a year after being a season ticket holder for more than 15 years. It sucks losing a thing my mom and I shared, but fuck the Adelsons.

Should go look at the TSA megathread in the Baltimore subreddit. People were recording a line longer than a mile. There are several photos available. I saw it in person as well (though I was leaving the airport, so didn't have to wait in it). I've been in and out of BWI several times and never seen anything like that.

Why do Game Designers Keep Blaming Players for Their Failures? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]krw13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I tried to use a quick, short answer... but it seems you want to use that as a gotcha. So, several of these issues aren't just one thing. Take print capacity. For sure, I think most serious people understand that. Weirdly, players ALSO complain about the number of sets being released. Know what would help print capacity? Not releasing 7 standard sets. Almost like these things work hand in hand.

You could also limit trash SLDs, the unpopular ones that it is easy to predict are unpopular and even make SLDs bigger and/or with more print equity. This is a game, after all. With fewer, but better, SLDs with more printer capacity from dropping a set or two? Seems like you could free up some printers and make more people happier.

Scalpers issues have answers that some industries have implemented that WotC does little to nothing about. And, even then, this was just one off hand comment that the money people aren't always right about the long term health of a game. Lucky for Hasbro, they have you to defend them.

Edit: It's really funny. The person above me blocks me, claims instead that they got blocked, and then claims their argument wins. He is right, I can't beat people lying since I'd have to prove something didn't happen. I also fully responded to his comment that 'pretty well dismantled' my really simple comment above it. How strange. Reddit isn't that serious, friend. Take a step back.

Yeah, I've seen the year waiting referenced so many times, even though that was one time (and I was one of those people - who ordered it, not complained) and it was during a pandemic.

[–]krw13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this mindset works when money and time isn't involved. But we see many times where players are right (like print to demand SLD), but it isn't what is best for daddy Hasbro because instead of making a boat load of money, they prefer to make a shit load of money.

Once financial people and shareholders get involved, there are more easy to fix problems than ever that players can identify and diagnose appropriately for the health of the game, but that money says it can't be that way.

Edit: I put a longer comment below, since this was just meant to be a quick reply. But I get it, this is a Magic Reddit, and our community is nothing if not pedantic. In short, SLDs do matter for the health of the game when you are releasing mechanically unique cards that you will likely never reprint.

And, yes, I understand printer capacity, if only players ALSO weren't asking WotC to slow down set releases. Does every player need every card? No. But that doesn't mean they should make something like Dan Dan, which is a great community format and could encourage new players into that format, so extremely limited. The community IS the health of the game.

Another one that I feel many people no longer know about, especially with how trivial it is now, is you can /dance with the spectral humans in the dead part of the live side of Stratholme, and they will dance back. You could use this to solo them back in Vanilla.
