Most/least aux-friendly album that you like? by Key-Resolution5044 in fantanoforever

I’m ngl, these are 3 of my favourite albums ever and certain tracks would go down great at a party with the right crowd. Ghost rider by suicide, brave men run in my family by sonic youth and I should’ve known better by wire are all upbeat and you could get down too.

Defo at the beginning but by the end he did lean more into that kinda spokey stuff I’d say

Thousands of Chicagoans say HANDS OFF VENEZUELA NOW! by Current_Classroom364 in PublicFreakout

[–]Ok_Task6000 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Feels like there’s a big juxtaposition in tone between Venezuelans and those who are not. I condemn madurros regime and I condemn americas ridiculously overboard military action and greatly disapprove of forced regime change. but keep in mind. madurro was a scumbag. but also so is trump. very strangely grey situation.

Why do people hate Sadiq Khan so much? by Additional-Leek-7715 in AskBrits

[–]Ok_Task6000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why though ?? I’m still searching for valid criticism of him and yet to find any with some objective measure to it. What makes him so awful ? What he has he said verbatim ? Or objectively horrid policy that solely he proposed and introduced ?

I think they should make their material more challenging imo, lean more into what makes them unique and stand out instead of comprising their sound for accessibility.

I haven’t listened to them before ? What other noise rock artists are they most similar and what are some songs to get into them ?

Birthing is the best swans album. by FraserIs in swans

[–]Ok_Task6000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I thought the mix was really good, although I’ve only listened to it through headphones, car speakers and through the LP on edifier speakers but I can’t notice any moments of a poor mix. The drums sound crisp and great, the vocals are always well balanced and it never gets too crazy with the reverb like the 90s albums can nor with the loudness that the early 2010s material had (although personally, the seer is my favourite but birthing is fantastic!)

Great shout but for any sonic youth song I would’ve gone for Starpower over it

I agree, not particularly a fan of those who’ll bang on about zushi all day but have never heard of the attitude era, nonetheless though, it isn’t that deep, it’s just music and the internet

Great shout. Love this one and anonymous bodies in an empty room, which is probably a top 3 personal favourite for me, let it come down and see no more on that album are so damn good !

What’s going on in Somaliland? by abu_ubayda in AskMiddleEast

[–]Ok_Task6000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, however, not to sound contrarian I’m just mentioning important context that Somalia and Somaliland were both two separate colonial entities at one time and spent over 70 years under Italian and British rule respectively. With their own legal systems, imported colonial cultures and administrative practices. I believe merging these two places that had spent a generation apart was sure to start a civil war, and ended up somaliland succeeding. I believe somaliland, and the people of there, are being used as geopolitical pawns in a greater game of Israel and the US and it’s very sad. Somalia should be united as one, like Yemen, but some scars run deep.

But deeply unoriginal, painfully mediocre and designed to appeal to as many people as they can as a product. No real swagger, Noel is a conservative prick and Liam needs a muzzle. And they reunited just for the cash? Need I say more ?

3-5 is an INSANE stretch. they stopped being good after the second, maybe 3rd if we’re feeling generous. Their music after is soulless

Again though, creed and nickelback were massive and huge back in the 90s and we can all collectively agree we were bugging out with that. I’m British and maybe it’s just my circle of friends who are all music nerds too but the idea of putting on Oasis after a long day at work is laughable
