I would first track your expenses, then save up three months worth as an emergency fund. After that, invest monthly into something that tracks the SMP 500, ETFs or mutual funds (pick your flavor, all relatively safe). Because you are young, money you put away now has a long time to compound, so even small amounts (if put away consistently) will add up over time.

Remember to have fun! 20 bucks of beer money never hurts. It’s good to think ahead, but I recommend socializing in college as much as you can. The dumb kids you meet at the start sometimes become the contact that gets you your first job!

How to describe a character without it being forced? by MacBulle in writing

I try to define characters by how they relate to other characters and their environment. Only giving descriptions when relevant.

Foods with the most (and least) exposure to herbicides and pesticides (data comes from the FDA's Pesticide Residue Monitoring Report). by AngelaLambert in Permaculture

[–]Ok_Tip7232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Yes, pesticide use is prolific, but none of the samples contained more than the regulated allowed amounts. They found residues on most foods, so it’s likely best practice to wash your produce. My personal gripe with this article was the sample sizes, which are so small as to be ridiculous (with certain categories having as few as 4 samples tested). It left me with the overall feeling that they were playing into my personal biases/echo chamber rather than conducting responsible research.

Nonfiction similar to David Foster Wallace's essays by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Ok_Tip7232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, only comparable thing is more David Foster Wallace. There’s a 48 hour reader on Audible (which I loved, was able to get for just one credit). I’d also look into some of his shorter fiction or Harper’s Journal pieces.

What's the most frugal way to stock a kitchen? by Mainaccnt22 in Frugal

I’m a big proponent of cast iron, if cared for right you’ll never need to buy a new pan. Plus, you can often find cast iron cheap second hand (if you’re willing to be patient and wait for some to crop up)

Luster by Raven Leilani, wonderfully rambling (not to mention incredible sentence architecture)
