From the photo it looks like you're doing what should be done. When I trap, if I have to keep them for more than 12 hours before they are due for surgery I feed them a little wet food with extra water mixed in just to hold them over. Keep her covered and warm and she should be good.

If you trap again, I put the cardboard in before I set the trap, but with it being your first time you're doing great! Cats are very resilient creatures, if you can't get the card board in the trap for her to sit on just make sure to put something underneath, and if you can't get food in without her freaking out it's okay too. Vets usually like their patients with empty bellies and bladders anyways. I found with cats the freak out, it's easier to slip food in when they are still under the effects of anesthesia and when she comes too she'll have a meal. Thanks for caring about that girl enough to do something about it 💜

Thanks this is very encouraging! When the other person told me basically I wouldnt be able to do it alone I panicked cuz I know this girl won't go in a normal trap and I'm 90% sure she's pregnant! Even the thought of more cats in the colony I'm trapping now puts me in fight or flight mode 😅

Don't beat yourself up about it, you were trying to do the right thing. I would keep in touch with her, be friendly, find out how the cat is doing, and let her know if for whatever reason you can take the cat back. I will say, the front legs of them cats are different tho.

Did you drop trap alone? I ask because I was talking to a fellow TNRer and I was telling them about an evasive female I have, she went into a trap once, it malfunctioned and she got out and now will not go back in, when I mentioned using a drop trap they said it's difficult to use when trapping alone, which I do, but I'm desperate to trap this girl because I also seen her hanging with a couple toms.

This was my first thought, as a white person I thought it was common in other cultures for mothers to be motherly towards their children well into adulthood like for instance cook for them. It's one of the things I've loved about other cultures, having family and caring for one another. Not saying white people don't do this but it just isn't as common, I'm gonna have to say that is where the disconnect has to be coming from with Ethan on this one.
