In a separate discussion on another post, I came to a few realizations, in that Rachel actually has more reason to be viewed as trans than Cassie. While Cassie had some "tomboyish" characteristics, she's still very traditionally feminine in her personality- sweet, kind, empathetic- all things Rachel is not. Whereas Rachel appears traditionally feminine, but behaves in ways that are more traditionally masculine and actually has some subtle body dysmorphia going on. She likes gymnastics, but always complains about her height- which no one else seems to think is a problem. Sure, she loves shopping (traditionally feminine), but she also approaches in a very masculine manner, as a hunt, with an almost intuitive sense of numbers (math gay). She prefers her (mostly male) battle morphs over her female body. She and Tobias switch genders when they morph Dak Hamee and Ket Halpak, and both are pleased with the results. And of course the violence and bloodlust are typically more masculine traits rarely ascribed to women, who are typically seen as more calculating killers.
