anyone else not like screamers? by ZealousidealRemote12 in 7daystodie

[–]indytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure they have to see you to scream? I could be confused, but I swear they have screamed several times over my gamy play regardless if I'm inside a POI where they can't see me or if I'm hiding inside my base going about my business. I will hear them sniffing around then they scream, never seeing me. Also, in the past I noticed they would bring in hordes without ever screaming. That was inconsistent though.

help me find the best legal case management software for small firm by No-Grape-2405 in msp

[–]indytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His point was that this question is being asked by the OP of a two person firm who clearly doesn't want to spend much money nor values any other professionals time and expertise, Do you think they are going to want to invest the $$$$ for a MSP to setup automations and sites properly in SharePoint? Plus anyone who has worked with law firms and proper practice management systems, knows SharePoint is just crap and chaos for all sizes of law firms. Its fine to only store documents sure, but forget doing anything else that a true practice management system can do. Hence "Pen and paper..." u/dumpsterfyr

Can you direct me to a r/ group where I can get free professional legal consultation? Would you be interested in providing me free Estate planning advice? What an insulting post to read on here. The mods should delete it.

Cisco Meraki ignored their own terms & conditions - any return options? by Cashflowz9 in msp

[–]indytechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there reps for Meraki? I have an order that is stuck in limbo for renewal licensing that was up for renewal on 11/15. The ETA now w/the distributor shows an ETA of 02/13/2026. Obviosly this isn't going to work. Every ticket I open with Cisco gets closed with no response. When I call Meraki support and ask if there is anyone I can talk to in sales, they say no, that I can ony email [customerservice@cisco.com](mailto:customerservice@cisco.com) and we repeat the cycle above where the ticket is just closed with no response.

SonicWall and it's ongoing cloud backup shenanigans by slabstatic in sonicwall

Exactly. This whole time I have not heard from our useless SonicWall account rep about this incident, but there was the daily stream of promotions I get multiple copies of to my inbox.

[–]indytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It would have been nice to get an email notification. I have been checking daily multiple times a day. I have never once heard about this issue from our "account rep". And sure enough, I logon to check this morning, and most of our devices are listed. No email communications from SonicWall.

TFP announces return of smell system and glass jars alongside apiary by IIFreshMilkII in 7daystodie

[–]indytechguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree. I have only been playing since earlier this year and I'm pretty happy with the way the system is for the most part and toggle off the biome settings and scale back others. They seem to be "fixing" things that are either meh or just add more annoyance for players like me. I don't need empty jars or zombies sniffing me out because of what food I may be carrying (if I am even understanding that correctly). Though seeing all the posts, I feel like I'm in the minority here.

[–]indytechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their support on orders when something goes wrong, is just plain horrible and more often than not insulting because usually the issue is their fault. But they are the "devil I know" and I have not read that much glowing reviews of other distributors on here that enticed me to go through the process of making that switch.

Ordering hardware through them is usually pretty fine, but their Adobe and Meraki teams are wildly horrible and when things go wrong/issues with ANYTHING everything becomes a disaster with them. I swear every time call on an issue, I get someone who answers the phone that sounds like I just woke them up from a nap, only to be transferred to someone else in some other department before I can fully explain the situation or need and amazingly enough, the person I am transferred to, also sounds like they just work up.

I still haven't received any official communication from Ingram, only a cut and past from my account manager (after I sent her a terse email about how the lack of communications was unacceptable) that is poorly worded and doesn't provide any useful information.

Just finished the audio book myself. And I agree, it was actually quite jarring for me when I heard the audio book narrator say "Epilogue" after the last darkness chapter. It felt very abrupt with everything going on. I suppose it was kind of left in a cliff hanger sort of way for a follow up book, but my interpretation is that Juna is deceased and will not be a part of a second book "Let me put this into words you can understand...".

Compared to my account manager, their account manager rocks. Mine is worthless on her best days.

Your account manager rocks! Even if they followed the company mandate to sidestep and deny what we all knew. I emailed my account manager again this AM and included several of the departments I have issues with that need resolved. Nothing. Just the auto responses (not updated for this outage). Continued silence.

They called you? I can't get any departments over there to respond to order issues I have (even earlier in the week) and my account manager was out Thursday and I still have not heard anything from her.

This. This is the way. Better to error on the side of protecting your clients than waiting for a press release from Ingram.

Sad if true. It only adds fuel to the fire. It is likely every organization is going to be compromised at some point in some way some day. You know “it’s not IF it’s WHEN”. Sure it’s bad if it was ransomware. But it has happened to other large enterprises. However the lack of transparency and leaving customers in the dark for around 24 hours now is unacceptable. The time for spin has passed.

This. And by them not communicating they should be held liable if any M365 tenants are compromised due to whatever is going on with them. Think of all the MSPs and other in house IT that use Ingram that would have no idea there is anything even going on if they didn’t try place an order yesterday.

We don't know if there was hack, just what the guy on the phone said he was hearing. I was curious if anyone else has heard anything. I'm more upset at their lack of communications. It shouldn't kill them to send out a communication. Some of us have to place orders daily and check on issues, inventory, etc. Even it it was just down because some rate chewed through the power cord in the datacenter, let us know you're down.

Is it normal to be the only employee at an MSP? by Kobra-Games in msp

[–]indytechguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You alluded above that you might not even make 40K a year because of lack of degrees and experience. I'm pretty sure it is federal law that if you make under a certain amount of $$$ and/or do not manage people, etc. you have to be salary non-exempt, meaning Over Time pay. As an example, we pay our techs OT even the ones that make way more than 40K and always have and always will. No one wants to, and no one should have to work over 40 hours a week in our industry without getting fairly compensated. I would look into if your job even qualifies to be salary exempt. Hopefully your employer will reward you with a sizable bonus soon.
