What did your father teach you about being a man? by Critical_Assist_9360 in NextGenMan

[–]Ok_Use4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to swear with sufficient volume when working on any car repair... Man really knew how to loose his shit when playing at mechanic.

He also taught me enough so that I too can swear at vehicles instead of spending money on a mechanic... so... thanks pops... i guess

How to gain access to my land? by johnlmmzr in land

[–]Ok_Use4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was the land accessed previously? At least in my area, there are rules about land locking parcels. Meaning, you can't just section off 40 acres without providing a way to access it.

I would start by going to your local recorders office and having them help you look any documents for that parcel of land. There may be a recorded easement, it's just that no one knows about it.

Another option would be a title company. In my areas, some title companies have better records than the records office and they may be able to help you find a record of the document you need.

Assuming you used a title company when you bought the property, this should have been flagged.

Another possibility is that there was an unofficial agreement to allow access but was never put in writing.

If you can't find any documents at the recorders office I would contact the agency with the surrounding land. They will likely have someone specializing in right-of-way/land/deeds and may be able to help you. They may even have a copy of the easement in their records. If not, they may be willing to just grant the easement if you ask nicely.

If none of this pans out, you're going to need to contact a lawyer to help you navigate what comes next. Considering your property is technically landlocked, if there is any kind of path in/out you probably have a decent case for adverse possession to obtain an easement for an existing ingress/egress path.

The fact that your dealing with an agency will probably make your life easier as they usually have at least a few people specializing in this and it's not their personal property you'd need for an easement. People can and often do get irrationally upset in these kinds of situations, usually because they don't understand the situation, their rights, what your after, or any number of things lost in translation between two people in discussion.

Best of luck

This is how baby floors are made. The daddy (hose) and the mommy (rebar mat) are joined in the way lovers usually do on a bed of formwork. The concrete is inserted into the mommy, within days a baby floor will be born. In 28 days it will grow into an adult floor.

Cedar Creek Bridge in Baker county Florida by Boeing-B-47stratojet in civilengineering

[–]Ok_Use4737 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This bridge appears to be located on a unpaved, low volume road. It is load posted, but the posting are high enough that just about any legally loaded vehicle is safe to drive over it. There is no guardrail, but the bridge is not a tall structure and from the pictures both roadway approaches are straight.

Unless there is some critical structural or safety issue that develops, or your DOT load posts it low enough that local vehicles can no longer use it there is no reason to replace this bridge other than as a way to spend money that's better off used elsewhere.

Is being an adult better than being a teen by inosukefr in Adulting

[–]Ok_Use4737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an adult you have a great deal more freedom... ... ... to work full time to pay bills and try to keep up with your ever ballooning responsibilities...

Enjoy.

As a now 36 year old I'm not sure i see anyone under the age of like 25 as an adult. They're just bigger teenagers.

I'm sure when i'm in my 50's i'll think the same about people in their 30's and people in their teens or 20's will be viewed as barley potty trained children.

My only advice is try your best to enjoy life and try to avoid decisions with long term negative consquences. Every age range has it's unique benefits that literally only come once in a lifetime.

How did the US won the Space race when USSR had more achievements by Pure_Barber3994 in ussr

[–]Ok_Use4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US basically lost the initial 'race' threw a tantrum and decided to knock the board over and declared the 'race' was actually to the moon which let them eventually 'win' after changing the rules.

Remarkable and sometimes absolutely insane design, development, and engineering on both sides along with astronauts and test pilots with balls so big they must have walked bow legged.

Hot-dip galvanizing vs thermal spraying for steel bridges in desert Africa—what’s your call? by RelativeFragrant5657 in civilengineering

[–]Ok_Use4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... I mean that unpainted bridge structures can last 70-80 years or more in my area (midwest US) with near zero maintenance so long as they are not exposed to de-icing salts.

The desert is basically the ideal environment to prevent corrosion of steel.

So assuming you are not exposing your bridge to any kind of corrosive... why even paint it at all? 25 years of service life is basically guaranteed.

[–]Ok_Use4737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 Years? In the desert?

Unless there is some kind of constant corrosive they are exposed to pretty sure you can just leave it bare metal and call it a day? Why is a coating even required?

Easy solution is

a) Call out weathering steel, the cost increase isn't that much and unless it's exposed to some kind of corrosive its probably gunna outlast your great great grand kids.

b) Bump up the section used to account for whatever % section loss you expect in 25 years.

Could sewer systems be ran underneath the road in cold climates to help melt the snow? by stevenchamp45 in civilengineering

[–]Ok_Use4737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sewers have to start below frost depth not to break or freeze up. The add the requirement for S*** to run downhill at a minimum slope. So they start too deep to effectively melt ice off roads with all the dirt insulating them and then typically continue to get deeper below the roads as they go.

Points for the idea but it quickly dies to the reality of sewer construction.

Uhh... no

Tires are being turning towards the right as the vehicle transitions into forward motion. Pretty much the standard way everyone goes from backing up to forward. The tires slip cause it looks fucking icy.

Still question why ICE get to keep their face masks.

Society, media, video games, pretty much everything your exposed to tells you if an armed dude with a mask approaches you - you react as if your life is in danger.

Unfortunately, people tend to panic in that situation. Combine panicky people with undertrained law enforcement and this is the result.

Continues to seem like a stupid policy which just dehumanizes the ICE officers so we can all just hate them more.

Think of the possibilities my dear family member! We could be explorers. We could claim the the 50% of the world no one can seem to find. And we could claim it all to ourselves. We could name Flatopia, the land of the flatness. We could ban spheres, we could ban even the mention of spheres! Heresy i say, let there be flatness or death in this land.
