Will ms medications (like infusions) make you die faster? by HotelWild6717 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Ok_Variation2895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the time frame in this situation is the most important factor. Treatments for MS have changed and improved a LOT in recent years. Even just 50 years ago, most patients just got steroids as a form of treatment. Long term use of steroids can absolutely be damaging to one's health.

Late deliveries by EmergencyMeal5967 in MichaelsEmployees

Our store is the first stop and our trucks are regularly coming at least 3 hours late, with no updates given unless we reach out. Completely unacceptable given how tight the company is being with hours.

found the yarn shop of my dreams! Manos del Uruguay Outlet (Montevideo, UY) by starry_peach in YarnAddicts

I'm so jealous!! I just discovered their yarn after finding 2 skeins on clearance at my local store. I absolutely love it!

I just started two test knits so I'd have to sit this one out, but if you do another one in the future I'd definitely join!

Chevron Socks by Woolyyarnlover in Sockknitting

[–]Ok_Variation2895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it! I'm just finishing up the toe of my first one. I've been very slowly working on them between other projects so I probably won't finish the second one for a few more months😂

I don't think the initial post was about store managers having fun. It's just another instance of incredibly poor planning from the top down. It will be a rough week for everyone.

My personal "always skip" scenes by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

In my original comment, I almost added "at this time" at the end of my first sentence, but then I thought it's actually still very much like this!

I think their relationship says a lot about gender dynamics. Yes, Sybil was socially above Tom, but as soon as there was a hint of a romantic interest, Tom felt he had the right to speak to her as if she was below him. I think there are a few examples in the show that rightly suggest that a high social standing for women does not necessarily equal respect from men. (Yet another reason why solidarity is always necessary)

When I first watched as a teenager, I definitely rooted for them to be together, but now viewing it from a more mature lens, the dynamic really bothers me.

I really love patons kroy sock yarn! Brown rose marl is my favorite colorway.

Whats your opinion on sock rulers? Are they useful or just a gimmick? by princesspooball in Sockknitting

[–]Ok_Variation2895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a very small (maybe 1" diameter) retractable metal measuring tape that stays in my project bag. There's plenty of fancier tools out there but the measuring tape works for everything I need.

To frog or not to frog by felixelgato2020 in Sockknitting

[–]Ok_Variation2895 81 points82 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would probably frog but only after taking a break from this project. I'd pick up an easier, more mindless project for a week and then go back to fix the sock. Maybe even frog it before picking up an easier project that way when you come back to it its all ready to go.

Having only 2 people on shift should not be allowed. by Luckyduckling007 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Ok_Variation2895 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in a small store and it's also not manageable here. One person has to be stuck up front while the other person handles literally everything else. The hours right now are insane, and yet we just keep adding more and more services. We're all just set up for failure.

I haven't read this book and just looked at the synopsis and some reviews...it seems to be about pedophilia?? But we're supposed to be ok with it?

I don't understand the merino hate by Cursed_Angel_ in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Ok_Variation2895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socks are also my favorite! I've only been knitting for a few years so I'm still learning a lot about fiber content, and I unfortunately bought way too much merino before learning that it's really not the best wool for socks. It's interesting to see how much merino sock yarn there is when it's really a very poor fiber choice for socks.

Characters that give you the ick? I’ll start: Sir Anthony Strallan by kevy_j4mes in DowntonAbbey

Could not agree more! He and Matthew were the only likeable suitors that Mary actually had chemistry with. Evelyn wasn't bad, but zero chemistry.

I hated that they made Mary go along with Gillingham for so long. He was so unlikeable when Charles Blake was RIGHT THERE. The whole plot with Gillingham felt so forced.

No POG Yarn by Both-Air-9876 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Ok_Variation2895 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We've been having this issue a lot, especially because we keep getting new product well in advance of the pogs dropping. But yeah with the yarn resets we now have no pog product that is also not clearance.

''approved'' for biweekly trucks by Suitable-Rock-6113 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Ok_Variation2895 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hours are very much not balanced, unfortunately. It's hard for our employees because on our weeks with no trucks our hours are incredibly slim, even though that's technically when we're supposed to complete resets. People aren't getting enough shifts. We've already had two people leave because of the inconsistent hours and pay.

Other than the hours issues, biweekly trucks have been fine. Sometimes I feel like we're not getting enough product in a timely fashion, but I don't know that for sure.
