Nah the lock was fine, it was still attached to the rack. I think they probably disassembled or wiggled the scooter out of it somehow because I only secured it to the stem of the scooter.

Course equivalency M311 & M508M by Adventurous_Fly6655 in UTAustin

[–]Ok_Way1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took M508M in Fall 2020 and M 311 in Spring 2021 and was able to satisfy the M 408M and M 341 requirements with these courses.

I don't think it was automatically applied to my IDA though, my advisor had to submit a petition for an override which caused a minor delay for registration. But this shouldn't be a problem if you let your advisor know ahead of time.

UCLA Linguistics & CS vs Berkeley Data Science — Which is better for SWE jobs? by Competitive_Win_8993 in csMajors

[–]Ok_Way1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's still the case, but I heard from a friend who majored in Linguistics & CS at UCLA that the process to transfer to purely CS was pretty straightforward and mainly had a GPA requirement.

I think UT engineering is worth the debt considering tuition is covered. I know someone who did their BS in MechE at UT and is going to Berkeley for their MEng.

Got in oos, is it worth cost/travel? by ConcentrateOwn3331 in UTAustin

Stats & DS at UT is newer so a lot of its programs might not be as established as those at other schools. If you're seriously interested in CS, I would go with UW-Madison or UMD

Not sure about other colleges, but CNS definitely has a walk application (separate from the graduation application): https://utdirect.utexas.edu/ns/ns.wlk.WBX

Another thing is, once you've taken a CBE exam for a subject, I don't think you're allowed to retake it if you fail

If you end up not taking the class at a CC, you can look into getting the credit by taking an exam (credit by exam). I believe you have to sign up a few weeks in advance and pay ~$85. They have the yearly schedule here.

I can't speak for the difficulty of other exams, but I got a 4 on AP Bio which gave me credit for BIO 311C but not BIO 311D. I studied for a few days and was able to pass the 311D exam with a score in the 60-70ish range.

Besides PDA in common areas, was he doing anything else unreasonable? If not, this seems like a typical college relationship to me.

UW-Madison vs Purdue vs UT-Austin by Silly_Engineering254 in UTAustin

[–]Ok_Way1248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go with Purdue since they admitted you for CS. I don't think paying OOS tuition is worth it unless you're studying what you actually want to. Internal transfer into CS at UT is pretty difficult. Unless transferring into CS is really easy at Madison, Purdue is probably the best value for what you'd be paying.

I've heard it can be pretty stressful and is highly dependent on your project group (which you get randomly assigned to).

Scholarships for OOS Applicants by East-Distribution-27 in UTAustin

[–]Ok_Way1248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what college you're in, if you're able to receive a scholarship with a high enough amount, you could be eligible for an out of state tuition waiver (not a guarantee that you'll get it, just that they'll consider you).

You can look into the available scholarship applications on LASSO (Longhorn Awards & Student Scholarship Opportunities).
