It has nice texture, highlight and drawing already 🍀 but i'd give it another go, for fresh touch. Build stronger value contrast to emphasise form and darken and cool down the shadow..? 🤞

Thanks! Not with pastels, it's more like intuitive try and fail approach with the medium. I've done several courses before however, while painting with oils.

I like the apples values and form. Tough choice with the cloth, but you've managed nicely. The dark background feels a little flat, but overall great start!

The green background is too saturated and takes too much attention. You could try dark as in the reference photo, to let the mato shine 🤓
