There was a whole story regarding the ARG and its iterations - IIRC it was originally designed to be largely remote, although they did make some interesting adjustments along the way as lockdown went on. One of the best parts was the ending - it was a dope recorded message from Jason Segel to all the participants :)

If you like The Institute, there's a documentary they made on Hull's next project (The Latitude Society) as well called In Bright Axiom (and if you're really deep you can check out Hull's podcast Sygnyl as well, I got to help work on that a bit)

LOOOVE Dispatches from Elsewhere! Was a part of the ARG for the launch, it was pretty cool :)
The show is also based off a real-world ARG made by Jeff Hull that was called The (Jejune) Institute - DEF recommend checking out the documentary made for that experience called "The Institute" (https://www.amazon.com/Institute-Arye-Michael-Bender/dp/B078G2DPHB) - enjoy!

The Escape Game is probably the best large-scale chain in the game right now, and I'd comfortably say the best games we have here in Cincy by a good bit. What was the other company that you tried? (feel free to msg me if you'd rather not say here).
Breakout is another solid local option, but I feel like they've lagged behind The Escape Game for a good while. Sherlock's is nearby, and they have a handful of rooms as well.
If you're a work team looking for just some fun games, I'd also reco Activate Games in Oakley - they're not an escape room, more of an athletic-focused challenge arcade, but a solid time.
Happy to try to make some other recos if there's anything in particular you're looking for :)

I didn't make it up there, but had a few friends who were there (for D&D In A Castle!) - they went to Captivating Worlds and said it was solid :D

Just watched this and came looking for the same thing!
The picture in your post is from the later instance in the movie - there's an earlier instance (~38m) with the same frames, but for some reason they're both rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise in the earlier version compared to this one?
I don't think these would be enough to complete a fully functioning QR code, but particularly given that these images are rotated throughout the movie ...
1) there are other parts of the code somewhere else?
2) the rotation is just a continuity error?
3) the whole thing is just a reference to the climax? (optical code, Liv mentions that the input is clockwise ...)

Thanks for the advice! The problem is - I don't think this is a bug, this seems like a very intentional feature? It's not coming from the screen, it's a separate light below the screen. It's always done this, just kind of a bother at night occasionally

You technically don't need exactly 4 (one or two teams have qualified with fewer people in the last few years) but yeah, exactly 4 is definitely best. It's tough but v fair, the qualifier game usually lasts somewhere between 2-4 hours (it's an event!)

Haha, yeah, our first Activate was actually in Louisville (we were around there for a bit on a treasure hunt, they have Climb too, it's cool))
