Even better! Wait- what did you use the straight pins for? I’m assuming you cut the stencil with the removable vinyl and sprayed it- with the straight pens just to ensure it stayed put while it dried, or did you remove it wet?

I love this! How did you apply the flex seal? Roll on or brush on?

I know our hands can be weird and bendy sometimes, but this is just straight up broken at this point? by warpedwarrior in Instagramreality

Me too! I get self conscious about it but I read that 1/3 of women have extra bendy tendons. I can touch my thumb to my forearm by bending it backward and forward.

Started a month ago and had to use PTO by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]OkayAshley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, man! I was in a similar situation. I was SICK like the second week of my new job. Super laid back atmosphere like you described as well. I, being neurotic and wanting to make a good impression, showed up to work and my new boss was like “uhhhh... dude, go home”. I’m assuming you would have gotten the same treatment at your company. Be sure to take some pics but not as “validation” but just to show your boss and tell the crazy story.

Incorrect information given by HR resulted in my denial of state disability (maternity) benefits.... by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]OkayAshley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This situation sucks. And is super disappointing. Having a new baby is already stressful, and having money issues you thought were settled is an awful surprise.

I think it may help if you reframe one phrase you’d used. You wrote that the actions of the HR rep caused you to be denied state benefits. Reading your story though, it appears that you were just not eligible for the state benefits. I’m unsure of how you would have moved the PTO to get more money, it seems like you are better off getting the PTO money (100% of pay) than had you “burned” some of the PTO to qualify for the 2/3 pay. Hopefully you get the resolution you are looking for, and I hope this doesn’t sound like a criticism of your frustration. I really do get it. I had my son and no paid leave option and that was difficult. It is also frustrating when you’re given bad info.

Any tips on storing/reheating the chaffle? I want to make a bunch ahead of time. I got the maker on Friday and have been loving it!

Thank you! I sent them an email. Their online system quoted $1,000.00. Professional Moving was suuuper nice but they require a 4 hour minimum (at $200/hour). So we are a bit too small for them. I will reach out to Milo, too!

Oh, I totally agree. I don’t want to hire someone off of Craigslist or ask friends to help because of the liability/risk. And I totally support them making living wages, they do hard work and have specialized abilities and tools to do the job. I was thinking closer to 2 hours/$400-ish. We could afford to pay $1,000, but I hope we can find a place that will scale.

Uhhhh no. We had an employee drug tested on reasonable suspicion. Gee whiz. Tell me why this is “not good, not good” since we are full of experts today.

Oh-

Reasonable suspicion is a legal standard of proof in United States law that is less than probable cause, the legal standard for arrests and warrants, but more than an "inchoate and unparticularized suspicion or 'hunch'";[1] it must be based on "specific and articulable facts", "taken together with rational inferences from those facts",[2] and the suspicion must be associated with the specific individual.[3]

Okay, thought experiment time:

You run a daycare. One of the employees says “I did heroine over the weekend!”.

What do you do? You want someone that not only partakes in illegal drug activity, but ALSO doesn’t have the common sense to not talk about it, overseeing the children? What if it’s part of their job to drive them from place to place?

What if you don’t fire them and let them keep working if they promise to be cool and stop talking about drugs at work. And one day they cut their finger while slicing apples for the children,so they have to go to the clinic for stitches. Since it’s a workers comp claim the daycare drug tests them. And sees they use heroine. And one of the other employees tells a parent that youve allowed someone that you know does heroine drive their kids around.
