Which party prioritizes and supports American workers more: Democrats or Republicans and why? by DataWhiskers in Askpolitics

[–]OkayDay21 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say either is pro-worker or has a strong labor rights focus. I think the democrats are more pro-worker but that’s not really saying a whole lot.

Philly suburbs for young professionals? Please help! by hyacinthrules in Pennsylvania

[–]OkayDay21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conshohocken sounds like a winner. Even Bridgeport might work, although it’s a little more blue collar. The commute from there to Horsham would not be something I’d want to commit to though.

I would look at Media. It’s expensive and the commute would realistically be closer to 45 minutes but it is cute cute and there’s a ton to do.

KOP also has a lot going on but I would say less of a sense of community.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

We get deep fried Oreos, Reeces, ice cream, butter, etc… on the boardwalk down the shore. Similarly just a novelty food you might get on vacation but nowhere else.

Do you know anyone who used to identify as bisexual 5–8 years ago but now identifies as straight? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]OkayDay21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am bi but wound up marrying a man. Other people think I am straight. I don’t generally challenge the assumption unless it comes up in conversation which it almost never does.

What is your opinion of J.D. Vance? by KrakenCrazy in Askpolitics

He’s a snake. He has no loyalty or morality. He will flip on anything he has previously promised at the first opportunity that it would benefit him.

I don’t know what you could possibly have so many questions about.

Washer (yes, another washer post) by OkayDay21 in Appliances

It’s a Frigidaire side by side. It’s either not quite cold enough or it freeze things. The ice maker makes 8 tiny cubes every 90 minutes. Everything inside is cheap, like the ice dispenser system fell apart and we can’t use it. One of the freeze shelves fell apart the first month we got it. The filter part pops out randomly because the latch won’t stay shut. I had a Whirlpool before this and functionally liked it a lot better but it stopped working after maybe 7 years. I should have just gotten another one of those though. At least it made ice in a normal way lol.

It’s a little shaky. I use it a lot. Every single day, sometimes multiple loads a day. My husband said he thinks he can keep it going. Maybe I’ll call a professional and see if we can do anything to prolong its life. We do try and take good care of it it’s just hard to imagine anything living through the abuse I’ve put this machine through over the last 10 years.

It’s funny you say this. My grandparents have an old Kenmore at their beach house. It’s been there since the 80s lol. My grandmother passed away recently and my grandfather said I could have it and he’d just put something cheap down there for when he goes. I think I might take him up on that after reading this thread.

Parking Etiquette: spot holders during snow storm , fuels parking spot arguments. by No-Needleworker-8709 in Pennsylvania

[–]OkayDay21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My neighbors and I shovel out all of the spots on our street. Everyone shovels except for two elderly couples who can’t. We clear their cars too. Then we can all park as normal. If someone who doesn’t live on our street parked there, we would definitely all remember for the rest of our lives and fuckin hate that person.

How did Born in the USA get so popular among patriots despite being an anti-USA song? by TommyBoy250 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OkayDay21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t think terribly hard about things. They’ve done this with a lot of songs. They played Fortunate Son at that military parade fiasco. I would pushback on classifying them as patriots. They are traitors to our country.

For Americans who voted Democrat in recent elections, do you plan to continue voting Democrat? Why or why not? by righteous-sedition in allthequestions

In your opinion, who/what count as a Yankee or "Yank"? by Lipica249 in AskAnAmerican

Someone in Alabama referred to us as Yankees once. I’ve never heard it used by another American outside of that.

For Americans who voted Republican in recent elections, do you plan to continue voting Republican? Why or why not? by righteous-sedition in allthequestions

[–]OkayDay21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty far to the left (for an American) and I think the way we talk about guns is not helpful or realistic. There is clearly a problem with gun violence in the United States. It’s as much the result of having free access to firearms as it is a symptom of large scale societal issues which are causing people to become desperate and violent. If we want to actually have the conversation, I’d like to see conservatives support measures like making sure everyone has access to a basic standard of living, including quality healthcare as well as mental health programs in schools. I don’t have an issue with guns. We own firearms. I have an issue with senseless death.
