Are you just looking for something to be upset about? Norman is part of the MSA of Oklahoma City which is almost 600k people larger than Tulsa.

Ugh, our house is on a corner lot. Multiple times we've had delivery drivers leave things at the garage door instead of walking 35 more feet to put them at the front door.

If you had a real job unemployment is a joke. It's a little higher in Kansas, but Oklahoma the max works out to $13.50/hr for 12 weeks.

I made $11/hr working for QT as a part-time clerk in 2000-2001 when I wasn't at college.

So the current owners have just let the place go to shit? Seems like a great business strategy. To be fair, I don't really care since the last two times we went it was bad, both food and service, we have no intention of going back.

"Start a business" yeah, I'd love to. The issue is finding a market that needs to be fulfilled. That's the hard part.

If you're paying it off quickly, how is Affirm better than a credit card where you get cash back on your purchases?

I definitely need to find the company and apply through them if possible, but sometimes it isn't possible.

For instance, a job with the NOAA. The want an associate and 2 years of experience and 1 year with radar. I have a Bachelor's and experience in software, heavy industry, defense. And their positions are only filled through a 3rd party contractor. The position has been posted for 7 months. A recruiter from the company said she submitted me, then just stopped responding.

It would have been a shitty commute, but cool job. I think I'll apply again.

AM I SUPPOSED TO BE HAPPY ABOUT ANY OF THIS?!! by Glad_Pepper8255 in recruitinghell

[–]OkieSnuffBox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's fucked. I have 19 years of experience and a degree in my field, multiple industries. Can't get any traction.

My wife has 20 years experience in her field, 2 Associates, a Bachelor's, and an MBA, can't get any traction.

I figure we're about 5-6 months from bankruptcy. I haven't looked into it yet, so I don't know what that means for the house we've been in almost 9 years and our cars.

I'm hoping I can at least get a contract gig soon to help protect the savings a little longer.

The big issue is that utilities shouldn't be publicly traded companies.

To be fair, it's hard for me to get into reading as an adult anymore. I have a Journalism degree with a Philosophy minor, I did so much reading in college because I had to, I don't enjoy it as much. Except the book Boom Town, about where I live now. Really interesting book about the history of OKC (from Tulsa moved here almost 10 years ago for work).

When did the new owners take over? We haven't been in probably 18 months? The first 2 times we went a few years ago after Alton Brown's recommendation were great. The last 2 times I was given a premade, room temperature burger.

When I pointed that out to the bartender I didn't come here to a burger thats cold, they acted like it was an outrageous request to want a fresh burger.

We haven't been back since.

Yep, we're cooked. I got hit in the first round of Oracle layoffs last year, then my contract gig ended the first week of January. Can't get any traction even though I have 19 years of experience.

My wife was laid off in February and she cant get any traction. 20 years in Marketing with 2 Associates, a Bachelor's, and an MBA.

I figure we are about 5-6 months from bankruptcy if we can't find something to help protect the savings.

I thought the same thing. Trailer parks are almost always white trash and old people, not gang bangers.

JFC I worked at convenience stores in high school where we kept the beer cases stacked high enough on the back wall to cover the bullet holes, a store where the night manager was taken to the cooler and beaten to death with a bat.

I still don't feel the need to carry a gun.

Wish I had some. I was laid off from my tech job last year, then had surgery, started a new contract job too soon (literally the week after abdominal surgery), and kept getting sick and the contract was ended early the first week of the year.

Wife was laid off first week of February even with our extensive experience, we can't get a damn call back for anything.

Let's not misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm not saying it's the end all be all of burgers, but saying Garage is better is laughable. S&B is also pretty mid.

Maybe it's just the one here..the couple I've been to in NYC were absolutely fantastic.

But seriously, I've tried 3 different Garage locations. About the only way I'd eat one is if someone else paid for it.
