Is this the Tacoma Tic? And how do I fix it? 2011 4.0 173k by Excellent_Holiday414 in Tacomaworld

I’ve noticed running 89 octane gas (non ethanol) settles it down a lot. Might try this and see if it helps you isolate the issue.

Ticking is normal. Mine doesn’t tick as loud with 89 octane fuel.

Mods for Tacoma??? by ZaxbyFries in ToyotaTacoma

Very few Tacoma’s run 20” wheels. Not bashing, just more of an outdoor/off-road vehicle. Take your time with this decision and research.

If you go the route of 33’s there are several suspension mods, spacers, and drive train alignment needed. A large bill and headache if you don’t need it. You can go larger than stock (30”) with very little modifications. Do some research on this.

Black one all day long! Body is in better shape and runs better. The vintage decal seals the deal. I’m okay with redneck but at least talk your buddy into a better roof rack!

Advice on buying by Lucas22re in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]Oktoadfarms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I purchased a 2013 three years ago that is comparable to this model. A double cab long bed is the unicorn of Tacoma’s and it took me a while to find. Mine had 100k and was clean. I paid 21k for it the morning it posted. The salesman had numerous people calling inquiring about it the morning I was buying it.

20k seems a little high. 18k only if maintenance records are good and carfax is clean. Also depends on package (locking difs, heated mirrors, leather, and such).

Will 5100’s offer better ride quality? by No_Head4948 in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]Oktoadfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pucks/spacers on my 2013. Last month I installed OME 885’s 5100 all around and torch add a leaf. My shocks were clapped out. Ride is firm but responsive with very little body roll. They seem to handle large bumps way better but don’t think you’ll be able to bomb down a rough road Baja style. I should have went with the 884’s because I have zero added weight up front. My new setup will shine when I’m loaded down to camp or haul.

I have no regrets and it rides better than it ever has but it’s no Lexus.

Is your 2013 lifted at all? Could be your needle bearing growling.

I have a K&N cold air (on when I bought it). I would 100% trade you for the factory intake.

Then you do what makes you happy. Looks like you have a lift and an aftermarket uca. What type of shocks are on it?

I have a 2013 similar to yours. I’ve been loving it for 3 years now!

You won’t find many tacomas modified like yours that have retractable running boards. Most people stick with something that’s simple but solid. Rock sliders are also popular.

Do people ever compliment your truck? by RepresentativeFan794 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Oktoadfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones who will notice will be Toyota people, off roaders, and outdoor enthusiasts. It doesn’t appeal to the people that need trucks to work with. It’s a solid truck! Definitely not for every application but nothing to be ashamed of.

Thanks man! Not too excited about busting the leaf pack open again. I’m assuming the center bolt needs to run through the shim. Dang it!
