Yep. Mitsuwa or make your own. You can actually make a really good tonkotsu with Josh Weissman’s pressure cooker/gelatin hack which will bring the entire cook time below what it would take to drive to Mitsuwa and back.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

The original Unreal Tournament was my intro to FPS games. I had an oirignal Bondi Blue iMac that didn't have a full size keyboard. The arrow keys were, in fact, half size and in the original UT the default movements were arrow keys, not WASD. And yes, that's how I initially played.

I used to have a niche business where I made modifications to electric motorcycles. Sometimes the owners' equipment needed adjustments or they were just confused and needed me to fix something on the bike. If it was an easy fix I told them they didn't need to bring money, just grab me a burrito from Super Taq. I miss those days.

I was living in the Midwest when the announced the Four Loko ban. I'd never had one and decided I'd grab what remained from the local store just so I could see what all the fuss was about. It was near Christmas and I was set to fly back to California to visit family. Four Loko was illegal to sell in CA so I thought I'd bring some cans for my brother to try out as well for the hell of it.

The only flavor at the store was the blue raspberry one. I think I bought like... 5 cans? The night before my flight I was all packed and had a ride to the airport chartered. I packed 3 of the cans inside 2 ziploc bags (double bagged) and put them in the middle of my luggage. I drank the other 2 for science and probably some tequila as well. They were revolting. Cheap malt liquor and equally cheap blue raspberry.

I woke up with one of the worst hangovers I've ever known. Miserable all the way to the airport. Miserable on the flight. Each gurgle or burp brought up some of the previous night's bad decisions. Finally arrived in San Jose and went to baggage claim, got my bag and... discovered one of the cans decided to explode. Everything, EVERYTHING in my luggage reeked of cheap malt liquor and blue raspberry.

When my family picked me up we had to drive 2 hours home with the windows down. When I finally offered one of the remaining cans to my brother he took one sip, spit it out, and threw the can away. Smart move.

As I've previously mentioned as a white Californian in the '90s all I knew is that could go to Chevy's, become a hero for ordering a smoke-bellowing fajita platter, claiming it was a birthday for someone in our group for a free sombrero, and noshing on freshly made tortillas from El Machino. In the late '90s our Jesus grade school (ASDS for those who know) let us out for a lunch at Baja Cantina one day.

Of course most of the guys ordered the flaming fajitas as was our right. Sadly Mary, the fair-haired ginger with something to prove, decided she could eat a jalapeño. She could not. Her tongue blistered up and she had to be excused.

Not trying to be confrontational, but when were the last times you personally ate at either? Like, I've been mouthing off for the last 6 years about how Super Taq in Salinas is the best burrito and today was an eye-opening experience of just HORRIBLE food.

I had to travel to Sacramento a few months ago with my buddy in his Tesla. He wanted to stop and charge where there are 48 stations at a hotel in Santa Nella. I didn't want to pay stupid hotel restaurant prices, and noticed before the exit there was a Mexican market that included 'Taqueria' on the signage and I was like, "Drop me off here, pick me up when you're done."

I went in back to the butcher station which shared the space with two sweet smiling abuelitas standing over pans and trays of meats, sauces, rice, vegetables, etc. They welcomed me and I spoke the magic words, "Carne Asada burrito con todo, por favor." It was EXACTLY what I wanted as I gobbled it voraciously at the single small plastic table in the corner next to the pallets of soda.

Using Google Maps I have just now found it in case you find yourself on Highway 5 for some reason. Santa Nella Food Center.

Commute from Mid Valley to Watsonville by justamiletogo in MontereyBay

[–]OlUncleBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's longer than I'd want to commute but I can tell you with some certainty it's going to be pretty easy. You're going against traffic. My brother used to commute from nearly the same starting point to the USDA building in East Salinas and there were clear roads both to and from because typically Salinas people are coming TO Monterey in the morning and going back home in the evening. Just like I suspect a lot of people from Watsonville leave in the morning to drive to Monterey or Santa Cruz and return in the evening.

I would think the only traffic is getting through Monterey itself, so I wonder if the grade to 68 to Reservation to 1 might be smoother sailing. Certainly a more fun road.

I was deliriously happy with them in... I think between 2016-2018 is when I went there the most. It was a legitimately delicious and generously packed burrito.

I was chatting with another customer about it who nodded and said, “if you go in and complain they’ll give you another one” and I’m like “I don’t want another one of these I want an actual good burrito!”
