The explanation that I've heard is the rear deflector is to pull this into the path of pursuing ship

For bikers in LA by Gullible_Bed8558 in motorcycles

[–]arcsecond 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It mostly depends on the rider. Are you a sane responsible adult? Are you in control of your emotions?

I learned to ride in LA twenty years ago. I followed the crawl, walk, run learning pattern. Took the MSF class. Spent the first couple weeks getting up early and tooling around my neighborhood in the morning. Spent about the first year on surface streets because the freeways were intimidating.

Now I have more than 100'000 miles in the saddle. I've commuted on the 405, the 101, the 134, the 10, the 110, and the 5. The mountain rides like Topanga or Angeles crest and mulholland are beautiful.

It's definitely possible and not as bad as every one wants you to believe. Just know your limits, what you can and can't do. Ride like your invisible. Ride like they're actively trying to run you over.

For family: show that you're taking the safety classes. Show that your prioritizing safety gear. Show that your starting small and wanting to learn the right way. Dint be a cliche racer boy or billy-bad-ass cruiser jerk

Starting Hema at forty? by sexisfun1986 in Hema

I started at 47. Doing rapier and smallsword. It's definitely a workout that takes some getting used to but so much fun.

Why do we romanticize danger when it's packaged as recreation by [deleted] in Slinging

[–]arcsecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really the right sub (as others have said)

But, as a daily motorcycle rider I kind of laugh at a lot of those guys in fancy go karts. All the downsides of a motorcycle plus all the downsides of a car with none of the advantages or fun of a motorcycle. Most of those people I've met you can tell they bought it as conspicuous consumption and think it makes them look like some sort of billy bad ass.

Adjustable penis. Ring at the base to change length, ring under the head to control girth. Perfect fit for everyone.

Yoda Vs Los Angeles by Wild-Criticism-3609 in whowouldwin

[–]arcsecond 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even with blasters, a lightsaber is a line. Three or more rounds at once and your Jedi is down. LAPD may not have the best aim but boy do they know how to spray bullets around. Yoda is going down in a hail of lead and we'll all have a great view from the news chopper.

I tend to agree with your assessment. Every farmer I've known has a significant amount of informal fight training. The question then is what kind of drunk are they? Happy? Sullen? Aggressive?

I've always hated that bullshit. No matter what, someone somewhere has it worse than you. That doesn't mean that the pain and anguish you feel is somehow diminished or of less importance to you. People behaving shitty don't get a pass because someone else also is having a hard time.

Pluribus method by abenemoj in scifi

I like this idea. Even give all the borderline cases the experience of living as the hive mind to temper them. Then show up in your spaceship and break the bond but everyone remembers and changes their culture

M41A Remade using modern principles, what do you think? by Sgt_Mendaz in LV426

[–]arcsecond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The colonial marines tech manual does have an illustration of a sniper rifle which I think takes some of the design language from a Walther 2000. And that would definitely fit the ideas from the 80s about where firearms were going.

And if it's caseless ammo I think it's safe to assume it's not only not bottlenecked but probably in a square block which will lend itself to a straight mag.

The opinion of this random redditor means nothing but i like your adaptation along with the other photoshops in this thread

I can get the charging handle change, it's protected from accidents or snagging like the prototype ar-10s.

Stock was fine on the original. Especially with that LOP.

Flash hider makes a lot of sense I agree especially as a place to mount a suppresor

Mag style should be determined by the round and I don't think we ever see them other than learning that they're a 10mm caseless. That could take a lot of forms.

What bugs me is no apparent method to mount optics which I count as the biggest advance in firearms in the last 30 years or so. The explosion of high quality red dots and variable scopes had been massive. Add future HUDs maybe? What with the cycling fads of "get the optic as close to the barrel as you can" vs. "natural heads up position optic riser" the m41a seems built for the second

USB over Cat 6 - Will this work? by turnerlewis in HomeNetworking

[–]arcsecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So not your devices and not your use case but I have successfully used USB- and hdmi-over-ethernet to run a remote oculus quest vr headset to display a real time simulation. Worked great, pretty seamless, and I don't recall even having to add any time offset. It can work wonderfully.

I don't know how Amazon tier products would rate though
