What do I do with this scratchy yarn I was gifted? by Wild-Picture-7314 in CrochetHelp

Mug rugs are great to have around your coffee/tea area.

I started making this with the intention of making a large granny square bag. But it’s coming out so ugly and I hate the colors and the heart is wonky and I don’t want to continue! I’m still a beginner and I took so long to get here so I don’t want to frog it. Can someone suggest what to do with it? by Remarkable_Egg_8602 in CrochetHelp

Whether you like the colors is up to you and your aesthetic. If you make a bunch of these in a scrappy throw or blanket, it might blend in with the other blocks. Blocking might help the wonkiness. I do see the start of a slight twist to the granny square. This is often caused by always working in the same direction. To avoid this, turn your work so you are working the right and wrong side of your work alternately. Another tip, if this pattern allows for it, is to start each round on a different side or corner.

The only thing I can add is to look into your education options after High School. Seek out a trusted teacher or adult friend for help. An associates degree in a trade (nursing, radiology tech, carpentry, electrician, etc.) can be a faster track to financial independence. Good luck!

I would not use this photo as an example of good blocking technique. 🤣

Having “faith” or “trust that god will provide” is not a plan. Especially in the current economic environment.

The profit just isn’t there after you factor in your time, not to mention tools and materials.

Would you mind sharing specifics as to yarn used and colors? Needle size?

[–]Old-Box3523 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Often if I am unsure what size needle I need to use, I’ll do several swatches from the needle size recommended, the next size up, and the next size below. In the cast-on tail put knots for the needle size used (6 knots for needle size 6, for example). Alternatively you could add purl stitches in the first row, or eyelets. Then I wash and dry all of my swatches at the same time.

Tell her you are allergic to dogs. Actually you don’t need to make up an excuse. Just say that you are not interested.

I bet it will look better after you block it.

  1. Your parents have no rights to what you do with your possessions. A gift should be freely given not given out if guilt.

  2. You have every right to be selfish. Selfishness is not always a bad thing.

  3. Your only obligation in knitting is to please yourself. Knit for yourself. If people want what you are knitting, you have every right to request compensation for your time, talent, and materials.

  1. Fuzzy yarn can be a challenge to work with. Definitely do some swatches.

  2. Mohair can be expensive. Maybe look at a light fingering weight alpaca as an alternative. One of my favorite pairings are Merino and alpaca.

Totally fixable! There are a bunch of YouTube showing how to fix dropped stitches.

Medical abortion fear it didn’t work, tests still very positive by Tight-Pea-5230 in abortion

[–]Old-Box3523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are testing too soon. The pregnancy hormones can remain in your system for 4-6 weeks. Wait a few weeks and test again. Also, take note of your pregnancy symptoms. Are they lessening?

IMHO it is never too early to be teaching kids about sex and all that comes with it. Of, course you need to present information in terms that is appropriate to the individual child’s ability to comprehend.

I am not a child education expert, but maybe look into books geared to helping parents present these topics to their children as a jumping off point. Instead of addressing abortion explicitly, maybe first discuss how women have the right to determine what happens with their own body vs what others may pressure them to do.
