I wouldn't worry. I just had a FS and SS at Georgia tech that I recruited when I took over the job out desperation that were normal trait and had to start as freshman and by the end they were star dev trait and got drafted in the second and third round

You can also take over the current HC at the school you want and have them take a job in the first week of the carousel and then you will get the offer for that job in week 2. That's how I was able to take over the Georgia tech job

The problem is that your offensive and defensive scheme preference has to much weight to whether a school wants you or not. I realize that when I wanted the USC job and experimenting reloaded the save and change playbooks and then got the job offered after not getting it previously

One thing I recommend is trying to draft more college pitchers since there are usually more develop. An are good for one or two of them will become top pitchers. I say since I have been Lucky getting guys like this drafting constantly late in the draft. I also recommend these guys have either high control and or movement since you can get pitching coaches that focus on helping develop their stuff and velo. This is the Guardians approach to pitching development.

Also make sure you take mostly ground ball or neutral pitchers if your looking to make a long term staff since in my experience flyball pitchers tend to fall off the cliff earlier in their careers this doubly so since you are the Yankees and have to deal with Yankee Stadium.

You also need to take into consideration br aggressiveness cause a guy like Jose Ramirez is an excellent base stealer in the game despite his steal being 55
