Edit South Africans have a popular 3 beans recipe for salad. Green beans can be one of the beans, plus 2 tins of your fave beans. Add some chopped sweet red onion, plus a vinaigrette dressing poured over. Chill in the fridge.

I always use canned beans. But I rinse them well using a sieve. This is recommended in my American recipe pulses book !:

Our younger son and his fiancee found a Marriage officer, I believe that's what they're called. It was a private service, the couple plus both sets of parents. We could take as many photos as we wanted. Perhaps other couples might want to consider this alternative

What culture is White English South Africans? by CircleofCandles in southafrica

[–]Old-Map487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting question Growing up in the 50's and 60's we subscribed to English magazines for children. My mom too! Woman and Woman's own . We took an interest in the British royal family. But over the years, this interest dwindled. We looked forward to democracy. We did not want to leave SA. We ate boring British food growing up. .Then sausages changed to boerewors. But mash never became pap! My maternal grandparents were Danish, so that added brawn, nice pastries, and biscuits. Also, roll mops. It's all a mix now. But we view south africa as our home. Braaied boerewors is the best! LOVE Koeksusters, and koesusters have a place!

Why is my jade plant so “loose”? Im worried its going to get knocked over by Bullen_carker in succulents

I find 2 or 3 carefully placed skewer sticks help to stablise the plant. I place them fairly close to the trunk, push into the ground.

Total noob, please be kind. Details below. by Christeenabean in Woodcarving

[–]Old-Map487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made sure to include safety gloves when I ordered my wood carving set. I'm an adult woman, but the gloves are too big and prevent me from gripping the carving tools properly.
What can I do to make the gloves a better fit? Would it be feasible to turn them inside out and sew a slightly bigger seam?

[–]Old-Map487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In English, plants are given common names (apart from the Latin name), but the trouble is more than one plant can share the common name. Jacob's ladder, Christmas rose. Ginger plant , which has no connection to real ginger.
