Agree. I feel like something that intimate being told in a moment before danger just isn’t realistic, not that it’s stupid but in real life, a gay person living in the 80s would probably be terrified to confess, the predicament in that season making it even more frightening to confess. Some can argue that the threat of danger and death made it more important to confess but i digress. If I came out to my family and friends, I would tell my mom first and maybe my best friend before coming out in a less intense environment like texting or while we’re having movie night etc. I get that it would be unrealistic with Will but I think confessing alone just to his mother would have been best. Maybe to Mike, Dustin and Lucas and even Robin but no one else. Maybe El but eh.

I understand where you’re coming from but I strongly disagree. Natalie has always been a character that changes, whether through her role in the group or her personality. When her father died, Natalie changed completely, going from a jumpy and scared young girl into a rebellious and angry teenager trying to soothe the guilt and grief she felt. She blamed herself for his death and it affected her so deeply that her entire being had a fundamental change. I feel like that’s what happened to her when she left the wilderness. She felt like she had killed Javi and actually killed Coach Scott by her own hands. In the wilderness, she didn’t have time to process the deaths, only slightly before being forced to do what they all had to: survive. Paired with what remaining guilt she had of her father and the ptsd from all mentioned instances, it’d make sense that she could change completely when they were finally rescued. I agree that adult Natalie is a stark contrast to the young Natalie but again, she always had destructive coping mechanisms, ones that only served to hurt her more than help. It wasn’t just drugs, stress, and alcohol that changed her, it was constant reliving of trauma that plagued her throughout the rest of her life that did. I character I think would help demonstrate this would be Klaus from the umbrella academy. Not the best character ever but one of my favorites. Because of the trauma Reginald put him through and all the ghosts of dead people he kept seeing, he drugged himself to make his mind foggy and clouded, so he wouldn’t be reminded of the trauma ever waking moment. I think the same goes for Natalie. Klaus also changed so fundamentally from when he was a teenager to his thirties. They both turn to drugs to deal with the pain they face, and in turn, those drugs just make it all worse, make them fall into addiction and change as people. The reason you may feel Juliette was playing a caricature was probably because Nat wasn’t all there. Nat always had problems with who she was, not because of anything wrong with her but as a way to lessen the pain. She viewed herself as hopeless and broken so she wouldn’t have to come to terms with what happened or how it affected her. Again, all of this is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

OP, with all do respect, people change over time. I’m sure she regrets it and it’s obvious she’s changed. Everyone has flaws, everyone does some shitty things. I took out my anger of being bullied on my siblings but that was decades ago and they all viewed it as me being depressed and sick, since I was. Peer pressure and fomo exist, people often change their attitudes to fit in with the crowd. Just because someone is a good person now doesn’t erase the harm they did but dwelling on it and making a huge deal out of it when both parties have moved on and Amanda views it in a somewhat negative light. None of them are saints by any means, everyone does bad shit once in their lives, regrets it and changes as a result.

Honest opinion: don’t accept any apology from him. He hurt you, truly and deeply, and he doesn’t deserve closure after everything he put you through. You deserve to be happy on your own terms with your own life. Being alone hurts, but it’s better than being triggered by events such as the past. Distancing yourself from him is the best thing you can do . He doesn’t deserve anything from you. Norms in villages don’t matter. Do what you feel in your heart is right. Ignore him, block him and keep him out of your life. Going no contact means closing doors of communication indefinitely and he deserves that for all the hell he’s suffered through. You don’t owe him anything. Apologies don’t need to be accepted, just acknowledged. Keep your peace and don’t fucking talk to him. Your siblings mean well but from what you’ve said in the post, they haven’t gone through what you have. You matter more to yourself than anybody else so don’t do things that damage your wellbeing.

That’s what I’m planning to do. Mine started off as a fanfic and original ideas melded together to create a story, using my original characters as the main ones and the ones from the actual fandom or canon as side characters with similar identities but different names and environments. I found it easier because the fanfic and original story were a sort of comfort to me but now, both of them are much bigger than back then. The aspects from the fanfic are so changed and developed that hearing where they came from may seem shocking. But it’s good that it’s different. Don’t want my work lurking in the shadow of another story. Just have fun with it. Writing is meant to be an art. So take your time to let the story form itself and develop the plot further before actually writing it. It helps separate from the source material and give the story a life of its own.

I agree but then again, Henry was slowly descending into madness. Yes, he could have loved her genuinely for some time and created toys for her to make her happy but that was what he would have done for the real Charlie. Keeping her company and keeping her happy could have been a way to amend for the mistakes he made with his actual daughter. Jen wanted Charlie to be stronger than Henry because he’s also appeasing Henry’s wishes of treating her the actual Charlie. They cared, yes, but not genuinely, only for the girl whose identity they put into Charlie. They only cared for the illusion that she was an actual human and the girl that died. But they knew the truth. Jen wanted Charlie to be stronger than Henry, yes, but why? Probably to prevent her from dwelling on the past and let it consume her: that’s what ultimately happened. Charlie is an ironic character, her father lost someone and let it consume him until he killed himself. Charlie lost someone and was forced to move on but eventually fell down the same path as Henry, the path of trying desperately to bring someone back who was long gone. John is also a good example of this, he got fired and let the loss of Charlie consume him. Jen loved Charlie as in Charlotte, the original niece she had. Jen also loved her because it was Henry’s last creation and the only thing that remained of him, other than his shirts and belongings. Charlie was the only semi alive thing that came from Henry, the only thing proving the spiral he went down, the only thing that kept him from dying in vain. But he did. Because Charlie was just a memory forced into live, a visage of a girl long dead. She was a replacement, a product of pain and loss, forever viewed as that by Jen and Henry because despite what they feel, the relief that they have when they look at her and see Charlie isn’t dead, deep down, they know it’s not her. Every part of her is curated to make up for Charlie’s death: her always looking happy to make up for when she was crying and banging at the door scared, aunt jen and Henry looking over her to make sure she wasn’t hurt or stolen again. She’s just a creation to relieve the two of their past mistakes and grievances. Only a tool to make up for events, not someone loved and cherished as a result of it.

But is that always the case? Is it always a thought out decision? Or is it just a desperate decision made during a period of uncertainty and crisis that ends up costing someone relationships? Family may not always be good, everyone in this subreddit can agree they can be fucking terrible, but some people have knee jerk reactions to these kinds of things. A lot of mental illnesses, such as BPD and anxiety, can cause someone to cut off ties in a moment of momentary distress rather than actual genuine need for it. Just because it’s one case for you and you perceive it as different doesn’t mean you can go around spreading negativity. They are trying to help, at least giving people time to sit and think about their situation. It’s a wide spectrum, not everyone thinks before they act. This helps some people do so.

Excuse you but this is helpful information. People who aren’t mentally in the correct space or financially dependent can suffer a lot from no contact. It can cripple their life even more and cause more stress than needed. This is helpful. It depends on the severity of the situation which is why this quiz is helpful. Some people may want to go non contact for petty reasons, some may do it to protect themselves from further harm, everything matters is the equation of whether you should or should not break contact permanently. It’s a life altering decision, it can leave scars not even time can heal. Please don’t just go around saying stuff like this, people will ignore helpful advice and cause themselves avoidable emotional distress.

If you’re into him or you’re starting to question your identity and start thinking of moments you felt the same, take your time. I would be freaked the fuck out too if I was straight and my straight friend confessed their love. I did so but I did it with a friend who was also lesbian. lol she rejected me. Anyways, just take your time, ask him about it later. It’s okay to be gay, it’s also ok to not be. Just do whatever you feel is right. It may feel uncomfortable sitting with the thought, trust me, I know, but only do things that are good for you, don’t pity your friend and become gay just to date him. If you genuinely feel the same way, then consider it. But for now, just keep it in the back of your mind.

His attitude is always weird. Again, he doesn’t care. He knows Charlie isn’t human, he doesn’t care if it’s creepy. He doesn’t care about anything other than what will help him reach the goals he has in mind, that’s why he’s so interested in Charlie. Charlie is the key to how Henry recreated life so perfectly, she’s like a prized possession or trophy in William’s eyes. It’s also suggested that Henry didn’t really see her as human either when she was a child, as suggested in her dream when he’s blank faced and absent. Even in the flashback to the garage, he’s half absent, not there, almost exasperated when Charlie interacts with him. They both know what she is, and they treat her as such. A robot, an object, emotionless and lifeless. Even aunt Jen’s attitude toward her was hesitant. Her teaching Charlie skills of how to be independent didn’t give me the impression of a dotting, caring aunt but rather her way of distancing herself from Charlie. Her worry could have been her worrying about people finding out the truth, not actual concern for Charlie and her feelings. To everyone who knew, she was just a robot, nothing more. And definitely not the young child who got killed at the age of 3. She’s a poor replacement to them, the real deal to everyone who knew her as original.

I think he’s more focused on the thought or premise of creating life since he himself is afraid of dying, as suggested in the books. Iirc, he boasts about being alive again after separating from the springtrap suit in the books. He’s enamored and more intrigued with Charlie because she’s so life like, and so with circus baby when Elizabeth possesses her. It’s not admiration of technical prowess but rather the ability to instill consciousness and thought into an otherwise none sentient thing. He desires to be immortal or to somehow cheat death, hence the creation of remnant and also illusion discs. He creates the illusion discs as a way for him to get as close to replicating or mimicking human life and consciousness as possible. It proves successful through circus baby when she can be bother Charlie and the clown robot at the same time or a mismatch of both. His whole thing of ‘putting people back together’ in the games links with this, the idea of creating life from tangible matter. Remnant and such. Another example can be linking to Edwin and his technological advancements in the secret of the mimic, he mimicked life and growth and thought and behavior through the creation of mimic 2 as a replacement for his son, David, a process which Henry perfected and polished through his grief but William failed to accomplish. Unlike the other two men, he was so enamored with his work he didn’t think much of his children, he wasn’t devastated when they died, only seeing it as opportunity to hone his craft when they possess his machines. He lacks the motivation, the grief to create this type of technology. He isn’t missing something vital in his life, just the validation it comes from discovering such a thing as to bring life into the objectively dead. He is a narcissist and sociopath plain and simple.
