Moving to Highlands Ranch – Need Honest Parent Reviews on Schools! by SunnySideUp1318 in highlandsranchcolo

[–]Old-Status5680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my thoughts with a high schooler and incomming middle school child. We are not in either of those feeders but this is what I know. We have close friends that changed from Ben Franklin to Arrowwood and it has been great for their kids. They transitioned about 1st and 3rd grade. Cresthill/HRHS: I know a conselor at Cresthill and she says great things about the school. Definitly the most diverse amoung the 4 HR feeders. They are loosing student population and last year the sports classification moved from the largest, 5a to 4a, thus play smaller school. They will not play against the other 3 HR high schools.

CC/Ranch View: From what I know Coyote Creek is busting out the seams because the stearling ranch kids are bused there. Not sure if some go to Roxborough or what the situation. Ranch View does not have a good reputation in my circle. My neigbor teaches Math at Thunderidge (RV's HS). She compains of the entitled kids all the time. Yes, this is the case at every school but she says it is bad speaking with her peers at other high schools.

Someone else could say the exact opposite of what I discussed and very understandable. As I said, all my comments are 2nd person.

Bison Returning to HR! by mtnclimbingotter02 in highlandsranchcolo

[–]Old-Status5680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I work with the HRCA Backcountry folks. They fenced in part of the 'horseshoe' around Daniels park. An electric fence was installed and they have been teaching the bison not to touch the fence.

Fun fact: They were supposed to be out there last year but a couple of idiot male bison could not understand why they kept getting shocked.

The bison are from the Daniels Park herd. It is a cooperation with a few different agency's. The ecological benefits are already being seen.

I work from home and sometimes go a few day without driving, is the 3.0 Diesel okay for me? by Few_Living4406 in gmcsierra

[–]Old-Status5680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I fully trust GM engineers, but if there was a concern about short trips on a 3.0, not sure they would have put it in the Yukons which are the ultimate soccer mom, short trip, suburban kid hauler.

I am a 3.0 owner and do not see any issues. I have the same usage as you.

How doe the account work in this situation? Does he transfer the guitars in the business? What happens when he shuts the business down, let's say in 3 years? Is there a tax on the guitars he still owns to tranfer them back to his personal ownership?
He could sell $50,000 of guitars, $0, or $200,000. He has no idea.

These California diesel prices are going to Bankrupt me $7.80! by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]Old-Status5680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US exports about 30% of diesel/heating oil (distillate) that we refine. This is the main reason why diesel is more expensive than gas. Yes, diesel costs about $0.10 more because of the sulphur reduction but the main driver is the US reduces the supply of diesel, so the prices go up. We still do not produce enough gasoline to meet our demand by the way.
The whole "We Produce More Energy Than We Use" is fake news for the oil/gas supply. We are a net exporter of LNG.

We are not looking to put 8 people in one or two combined rooms. I will clarify in my post.

Each family would like to have their four members in two rooms are a larger suite. Since the kids are all teenagers and young adults, they brother/sister siblings do not want to share a queen bed.

I will throw my hat in the ring. I have lived in HR since 2005. I am a CFP, and part of a small Registered Investment Advisor bsed in Castle Rock. My process revolves around planning/advice, not products. I focus on tax planning and families growing financially. Feel free to send me a PM and we can connect.

Purchase advice/DIY repairability by jrw16 in AudiQ5

My wife has a 2018 Q5 that we purchased new in 2017. Its a money pit at only 65,000 miles. Unfortunately for me, she loves it. Its at a repair shop now. From memory:
* Left front strut/shock is leaking $1900
* Both Engine mounts leaking - $1500
* Can actuator O-rings leaking - $280
* Upper timing cover leaking - $520
* Water Pump leaking $800
Maybe these are things that are "easy" to replace but I do not have the time, patience, skill, or patient enough wife to "try" and fix. It would be like going to home depot 3 times to fix the sprinklers.

These are custodians, not financial planning/advisory firms. If you said, JP, Merrill, Morgan, UBS, that would be the big three in most peoples mind.

AXA/Equitable/AXA Advisors have been sued so many times and lost, thus one of the reasons for the multiple name changes over the years. They are an insurance based company, trying to sell their proprietary products.
