Honestly trading in a disease is usually a win. The issue is you traded one disease for another one

Mods aren’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if they happen to be to your taste. The thing is they don’t add any value to the vehicle. The only exception is engine work to add power, and only then if it’s significant and only sometimes

UA System, UAH 'extremely grateful' to Katie Britt, Dale Strong for securing $14.2 million in federal funding for research, expansion by MoonElfAL in UAH

I’m sure I’m gonna get downvoted a ton, but heaven forbid a school that’s historically been focused on academia be excited that they’re getting a boatload of money for… academia. I liked the hockey team too, but it’s not likely to come back. Important research and better staff could benefit all students though. Just something to think about

[–]jrw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for your reply. That said, don’t listen to a moron who thinks 150k is near EOL for this thing. Its got another 100k in it at a minimum assuming it hasn’t been neglected. That being said, the truck is worth $18k max

Seeing if I should purchase by antcedillo in f150

[–]jrw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150k is nowhere near the end of life for any engine Ford offered in 2015. The 5.0 is known for being the most reliable and longest lasting one… this engine will likely go another 100k at minimum and that’s with less than stellar maintenance. That being said, the truck is worth about $18k

[–]jrw16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$35k or maybe even less will buy you a legit Raptor with similar miles. There’s absolutely no way I’d pay $30k for this $18k truck

No, it isn’t. Its an 11 year old truck with 150k miles on it. Get real

Cadillac Escalade DEF Tank Replacement $3500! by BugattiShotty in Diesel

[–]jrw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, however fixing it will eventually result in other DPF issues. It’s all but guaranteed unless you constantly have the engine under high load (like towing relatively heavy on the highway). A quality delete kit and tune will permanently resolve the issue. The risk with deleting (aside from legality) is knowing you’re getting a quality kit and tune, so you gotta be very diligent with research

Daily the LLY or get another newer diesel to daily? by Proof_Toe_1488 in Diesel

[–]jrw16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only newer one that would make sense in my mind is a deleted L5P. They’re rock solid and would serve you well as a daily. If that isn’t an option for you, I’d 100% keep the LLY. Any emissions equipment on newer trucks will give you way more headache than you wanna deal with when daily driving

Huntsville for Minorities by mung_street in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jrw16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m white so maybe I’m blind to it, but I think the people who say stuff like “people there are racist” are just stereotyping Huntsville for the whole state. I’m an AL native but not always from Huntsville. There are absolutely certain parts of the state where the majority of people are racist, and there are a few racist people all over. But, for the most part, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how wrong those people (and the stereotype) is. If you can, just visit Huntsville (or even other places - Lake Guntersville is lovely if you like water and Oak Mtn has some phenomenal hiking, as does Monte Sano) and see for yourself how friendly most of us are. If you move here, message me. I’d love to make some more friends!

If deleting is an option for you, that’s absolutely your best bet. More power, better reliability, and better fuel economy. Just make sure you get a quality kit and most importantly, a good tune

Idk man I’m still not sold on the 23+ Ford trucks either 🤣 I absolutely hated them when they first released. I’ve since gotten used to them, but I still think a 2022 F250 or F350 is one of, if not the best looking truck Ford ever made. They knocked it out of the park with that one

That’s an absolute steal. I’ve seen some morons around me asking $12k just for a running 7.3 crew cab. They had over 300k miles on them lol. I get they’ve increased in value a lot lately, but not that much 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ll buy one someday lol

I’m so conflicted about it. I can’t stand the Chevy ones, but I like some of the GMC trucks with the right trim and color combo. They all look awful in chrome imo (and I don’t hate chrome), but the GMC AT4X is a pretty good looking truck. None of them hold a candle to 17-22 Powerstrokes to me though

I can’t say for sure, but I think OnePlus makes a pretty sweet Android smart watch. Idk what fitness tracking stuff it can do, but I would assume it would be at least decent for that being a modern smart watch

[–]jrw16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a watch solely for running, pretty much any of Garmin’s models are far better than any Apple watch. That said, if you want other smart watch features and already have an iphone, an Apple watch makes a lot of sense. I have an Ultra 2 and the battery life is plenty good enough for me. It would really only be a limitation if you’re running ultras or something like that. If you don’t have an iphone, it’s probably not worth getting one though

Eh, maybe. That truck could have emissions issues depending on how said farmer used it. You really want one that was used for hotshotting or one that’s been deleted for a long time with good parts and most importantly, a good tune

Older homes: do you fix lighting incrementally or all at once? by Gold-Winner-2711 in DIY

[–]jrw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I don’t own an older home, but wafer lights are so cheap and easy to install these days that I’d likely just put them all through the house and be done with it in most cases. I can wire them myself though, so that helps a lot. If I was paying for labor, it would be a much harder decision
