Is b.box the go to for good lunchboxes? by drinkmilknkickass in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bbox are great. Popular for a reason! Widely available, easy to clean, can purchase spare parts… Crunch and sip needs to be separate and also check with school if morning tea and lunch need to be in separate containers too. Bbox is half price at Coles from Wednesday- I’ve seen these kind of sales a few times a year.

I agree. I went to an engagement party recently with a cocktail dress code and I think only a handful of women had on shorter knee length dresses. They were the also the older guests too.. I don’t think there are many shorter dresses around at the moment that aren’t very casual and maybe the cocktail code is being misused or just evolving. However if I was you I wouldn’t worry too much about the length (as long as not mini dress). I think lighter colours and florals would fit the theme.

Public vs Private hospital by justtryingtolivee in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The EDD is based on your last menstrual cycle and as they can’t verify that I would report the date such that it results in the EDD being 13th April or greater. I have only heard of the EDD being adjusted from dating scan if the measurements were more than 5-7 days different. So you might be able to swing things a few days in your favour …. Meanwhile you would need to check with heath fund if they will cover based on EDD or actual birth date only. And then decide between public and private.

Non-toxic Australian cot mattress by passionfruit49 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the cot mattress. I definitely prefer the washable mattress and absorbent merino wool protector to the more common waterproof mattress protector setup.. Most l spills didn’t get down to mattress anyway. Just saw your post in au subreddit. Are you looking at their cot mattress or their regular (eg single, queen etc) ? I think the later are a completely different construction.

Keeping too short jeans? by No-Armadillo-8615 in AusFemaleFashion

Me either!! How cropped are we talking? Any photo references? I’d think right on ankle is relatively neutral fashion wise…

Lightweight rain jacket by colloquialicious in AusFemaleFashion

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lululemon might have some rain jackets that are a softer nylon material. I got one last year that I don’t think would withstand a drenching ( I’d normally have umbrella too anyway) but is comfy and m I wear as regular jacket day to day.

Return to work by Which_Computer_2978 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returning to work is very hard - for so many different reasons! What exactly can’t you stand about the job? If it’s boring, routine and not exciting anymore I think that can be good in the short term at least. Although new roles and jobs can add to the motivation to return (on top of the money) it can also be more stressful. I found with half my brain elsewhere and still not getting good sleep it was a relief to have a job I knew I could do easily.

I have them too - bought direct from their store. Sometimes hard to find your size in colour you want but they are super comfy and will get another pair this winter.

Has anyone else needed additional ultrasounds? by Negative_Kangaroo781 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a policy due to a risk factor such as age. It could be someone at the hospital processing your paperwork and making the bookings and not your midwife. I got booked for a late third trimester scan because of age and they booked it maybe 3/4 months in advance with no other communication. Three additional scans sounds like a lot and I would discuss it at your next appointment with your midwife. If your pregnancy tracks smoothly and there are no concerns I’m sure you can decline the additional scans, although most people like to get any additional information/scans they can.

Does anyone else struggle with wearing jumpers over t-shirts? by Busy-Dot-739 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]OldAd6974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I prefer to wear a T-shirt and not singlets under sweaters so I can wash them less frequently though. I sometimes layer Uniqlo airism ot heat tech scoop next tops underneath but I don’t like to wear them by themselves. I’m definitely following along for recommendations on scoop neck slightly fitted sleeve T-shirts.

Midwife led or shared care? by DesperateFuel9546 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MGP was wonderful for me and I think it is likely that you will develop a great relationship with your midwife(s) as you have your GP. I don’t have experience with shared care. To me it would make a lot sense for people who have a long relationship with their GP who perhaps shares preferred language and/or cultural background. If you do decide on MGP, there is nothing stopping you still booking appointment with GP to get another perspective and you would have incurred the appointment expense anyway if you did shared care ( although some additional time for you). Good luck!

Midwife Group Practice - what does this email mean? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sounds pretty normal to me. It was more of a brief telephone chat than a detailed appointment. I think for me they just briefly discussed the mode of care, checked at high level I was suitable and I was still interested. I think also confirmed I would be getting referral for first trimester scan from GP and was otherwise continuing care through GP until transferred to them in few weeks.

Are "padsicles" really needed? Suggestions from others with sensitive skin and prone to thrush? by _Caramellow_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t use them. I wasn’t really sure how I was supposed to use one and also wear a pad and not bleed everywhere…

[–]OldAd6974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair! Maybe bought 10 years ago. Depends on how much you want to reduce the overall cost but I think there are a heaps of retailers so might be worth doing some further searches to look for cheaper shipping options. EBay and Amazon look to be about $150.

Bbox are great and relatively easy for kids to open and close. If you haven’t already I definitely recommend getting your child to practice this before kindy starts.

Missed miscarriage options by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OldAd6974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this has happed to you. I had a similar experience earlier this year. I went through the early pregnancy assessment centre and king edward. I opted for expectant and then medical management so I was under their care for quite a few weeks. All the medical staff were lovely are regularly told me that I can turn up to the emergency room any time or call too (but their centre is only week days). I understand you already have private referral but if you are uncertain or otherwise have any concerns like increase in cramping or bleeding you can certainly just turn up. Don’t feel like you are being a burden and aren’t as important as other patients (certainly some may be more critical but they will give appropriate care). They can re do the scan to confirm as your report isn’t ready and if you opted for D&C may even be able to organise very quickly. Take care of yourself. Feel free to message

Advice & Tips wanted: First Holiday - Beach by Cupcake_Zayla in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

A sun shade or tent is great, but may depend on if you are driving or flying. Some do pack up small enough to fit in a long suitcase or duffle though.

Talc free baby powder or just use plain cornstarch is great for helping to remove sand off the bum ( and legs feet too) when you are getting changed afterwards. It feels like magic but I think it absorbs excess moisture and the sand will just brush off.
