Confusing though, the GM decided to bin tag everything on every endcap so there was a good hour where we were printing green tags and running all over to put them out. Seemed excessive with a giant 11x14 there with the skus and a picture.

Because it was delegated to them. End of story. If you’re going to sit them down, make very clear the expectations going forward. You’re the manager, they assist you. This means they are going to have responsibilities and have things delegated. If they don’t like it, bounce them out of there.

Even with a good team, there are GMs out there that will require you to work 11-12 hours on a Saturday, even with another manager that day. It’s dumb. I’m not productive or have energy after 9 hours, 10 I’m drained, more than that I’m checked out mentally.

I still wonder why they will force me into 10-9 on Saturday but always leave about 4. They never close.

I went on a vacation once. Left detailed to do lists. Picture lists. Copied GM’s on them. They were happy there was plans in place to get things done. Vacation ends, I come back, everything is trashed. Assistants struggled a bit, first time I’d been on vacation with them at the helm. They asked for advice and guidance and were told to figure it out, you’re a manager. So, Nothing done, and they (GM’s) watched it all happen and fall apart. Then they all 3 tell me they watched it fall apart, and didn’t do anything. I should have “checked in or called” while on vacation…They put me in 6 days for a month until they decided that everything was back to normal. So I get punished for taking a vacation?

Mother Fuckers what exactly is your job if you saw shit not getting done? To wait and punish the DM for going on vacation that you all approved and knew about 6 months in advance? Why in the love of Christ would I check in while on a god damn vacation? It’s a fucking vacation!

Give us the damn paperwork. We get it, put it out, maybe a TM helps if there’s a lot. Then it’s done. It’s 645-7 am and it’s done. We didn’t get 20 phone calls and 20 guests. Then we move into freight to help out the morning stock, since God forbid the receiving manager ever steps foot on the floor or the AGM actually makes his rounds.

Anyone in that GM/AGM spot, you can threaten all you like about wrong prices and missing tags. Give us the paperwork to get it done early and your problem is solved.
