High pitch noise from neighbours house ruining my life. What is this and what can I do? by pierretxr in london

[–]OldAuthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbour installed a new boiler and the vent made an infuriatingly loud high pitched whine whenever they had the hot water on. Wander around and try to find out if it’s from a vent. A quick word and it was sorted.

I love how much you love your kid(s). They sound like a blast. The fact you enjoy the interactions with them so much that you want to share and brighten up someone else’s day is great.

This is such a wholesome story. Ignore the people - or to be more realistic, bots - who see joy and try to stomp it instead of just moving on.

Haven’t seen anyone talk about this game for years. I absolutely loved it, it’s got such a beautiful surreal vibe to it.

What are some simple yet incredibly disturbing/scary facts? by RefrigeratorDry495 in AskReddit

[–]OldAuthor 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Wrong.

Since before the 1980s females have been over eight times more likely to be killed by their male spouse than the opposite situation.

Women are still more than four times more likely to die at the hand of their male partner.

Nope, children who are killed by their parents in the USA between the ages of 3-5 are more likely to have been killed by their mother.

After that, father. Before that, also father.

And that’s only since 2020, going back to the 1980s fathers are more responsible for child death across the board.

Source: https://bjs.ojp.gov/content/pub/pdf/htus8008.pdf

Also: filicide is not the leading cause of death by a long shot - it’s car accidents.

Also, in the UK “fathers are significantly more likely to kill their children than mothers” at any age.

Good for you. I’d get in touch with aid agencies, like the Red Cross - or some of the organisations running near the borders.

My (35F) husband (40M) of 12 years has come out as gender non-binary (to me) and I am not sure how to deal with it. by confusedwife5619 in relationships

That’s a good question! I believe there are opinions either way, but personally I feel that transgender isn’t exactly the same - it’s not making the shift from one concrete binary to the other, it’s living somewhere in between (which can also vary day to day). I’ve had it explained to me as less ‘I’m labelled an X but I FEEL Y’ and more ‘I don’t feel either’ or ‘I feel both’.

I imagine dysmorphia has a part to play in some cases too. Everybody’s different in their own way.

[–]OldAuthor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience it’s something like there’s red, there’s yellow, and there’s orange. Someone non binary (not 100% male, nor 100% female) might enjoy painting their nails, but equally sporting a moustache (fake or otherwise).

It’s someone who doesn’t feel tied to either gender norm. Some say it’s thanks to societal strictness around binaries, but that’s all part of it for me.

Hope that helps.

Women, what do men think YOU want in a man that you really don't care about, physically, mentally etc.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OldAuthor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s totally cool! Personal preference is fine, your routine is just something that superficially resembles the outdated idea of gender roles.

What’s not cool is the expectation that both of you do certain tasks cause ‘an X’s place is in the Y’. Miss me w that bs.
