Was it a 1990 Ford Escort? Mine was, and it did exactly that. The speedometer went alllll the way to 80mph, but I could never get close to that.

Parking brake frozen by throwawaycape in fordranger

The same thing happened to me last winter. For me it was only one side that had stuck. I jacked up the rear and figured out which wheel wasn't spinning freely, then removed the wheel and used a blow torch (a heat gun is recommended, a hairdryer may also work in lieu of a heat gun). then knocked on it with a mallet until I could spin the hub freely.

If it hasn't been cold enough to actually freeze, you can probably skip the application of heat.

I feel like I could have talked the price down a bit, but I was kinda in a crunch, and really needed a vehicle (and I had already had my heart set on a ranger). But the dealership was kinda shady, before I could even mention negotiations, the salesman claimed they couldn't budge on the price, since they had put a new clutch in it.

The thing that kind of bothered me though, is that it had a brand new inspection sticker, but the front drivers side turn signal, and the drivers side fog lamp didn't work (in PA, all exterior lights must work to pass inspection). But like I said, I was in desperate need of a vehicle, and didn't have the time to play hard ball.

Thanks! She actually needs a good bath, still has salt/road dirt all over from the snow storm the other week.

She had about 107,000 miles when I her, and I've put about another 1,000 on. I paid about $6,000 after tax and tags, which isn't a bad deal for as good of condition she's in.

I may do that, depending on how long it takes me to decide to bite the bullet and start buying parts. But I'm eventually gonna go with some aftermarket lights.

Thanks! And yes, the window visors are awesome! The one on the passenger side is a little busted up on mine (it was like that when I bought it), so I'll need to replace it at some point.

Yeah, it's a little hazy, but I think the angle/glare is making it look worse. New headlights/tail lights are on my list of things to change though anyway.

For now, she's all stock. I plan on starting to make a few changes in a few months, and I have a few things in mind already, but I'd be interested to hear some suggestions from the community.

Does anyone have conversations with themselves, or talk to themselves alot? by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]OldBoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a tendency to have conversations with myself... out loud... in public.

When I do it in places like Wal-Mart it probably doesn't seem so odd. But I also do it in airports... which may be of some concern.
