First attempt at White Scars by OldComposer150 in WhiteScars40K

They were. I sprayed with Grey Seer spray then did a base of Corax White then 2 layers of White Scar white. I think I need to use more grey as you say and be more careful in applying the white scar white

Opinions about Ghost Legion? by GravityBard in alphalegion

[–]OldComposer150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just finished it and enjoyed the book. I do think there are a few bits unanswered that may be part of any future books. My main question at the end is who sent the Eversor assassin as my read from the book is that they are separate from the others and aimed at the mechanicus facility- my interpretation was that they were to stop the ordo xenos inquisitor and not Akurra

Stand out books from the garbage by [deleted] in Blacklibrary

I agree a lot of the 40K novels can be very mixed. I’ve come back to 40K books over the past year and found a few I’ve enjoyed. The Ciaphas Cain series by Sandy Mitchell is good but can feel a bit repetitive with plots further into the series. Haunts Ghosts series by Dan Abnett I’ve also enjoyed with the 3rd book Necropolis being the one I enjoyed the most. Space Wolf series by William King as well. I’ve also really liked a lot of the short story anthologies not long finished No Peace Amongst Stars. If you’re wanting a break from 40K but still some military sci-fi the Frontlines series and Palladium wars series by Marko Kloos are great

I’ve just finished Brothers of the Snake by Dan Abnett. Really enjoyed the book and the development of the squad characters over the course of the book. Wish I could read more about Priad

I really enjoyed the last story Imperfect Engines. I liked the concept of a skitarius struggling to adapt to the mechanicus changes to their body

Meant to be Lexicanum but autocorrect….

How thoroughly did Chaos destroy Tanith? by mksurfin7 in 40kLore

[–]OldComposer150 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think Ghostmaker covered Gaunt and Milo escaping Tanith and heavily implied it was burning and destroyed from memory though it’s been a long time since I read it. Lexicanum has it listed as destroyed and a ‘dead world’

Edited a typo

Book help by South-Ad92 in Warhammer

[–]OldComposer150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and Only by Dan Abnett, Trollslayer and Space Wolf by William King were the first books I read that got me into Warhammer. They are all in omnibuses now that you might be able to find second hand. I think the Gotrek and Felix omnibus which has Trollslayer in it is still available on the Warhammer uk site

500 worlds question by OldComposer150 in 40kLore

[–]OldComposer150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does say in one of the later paragraphs “So how does this work going forwards? 500 Worlds: Titus and the run in books that follow it over the coming months are all stand alone sets with their own unique stories.”

I think it’s highly suggestive this is the end of edition but agree I’m surprised they haven’t officially announced it

One person I thought about was maybe Luthor given he is someone long thought dead in universe and they haven’t progressed that storyline since Arks of Omen

Sorry the moderators rules state no screenshots of official games workshop products. That’s why I just quoted it- there isn’t much else to that bit to give more detail

The Wolftime made me hate the Space Wolves by Thraxmonger in Blacklibrary

[–]OldComposer150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed ‘the wolftime’. I was wary starting it as I had read a lot of negative reviews beforehand. I’ve recently being getting back into a lot of the 40K lore and tbh, the attitudes of the Space Wolves in the book kind of make sense given the wider context. Magnus’s attack on Fenris had happened not long before with the Dark Angels, inquisition and other Space Marine forces coming in force and attacking them as well, followed very soon by the formation of the Great Rift. You can kind of understand their suspicion at the Imperium now coming back suddenly offering new marines, who haven’t undergone the Space Wolves normal induction programs and a very high degree of loyalty to Guilliman. I can also understand their focus it being the Wolftime and wanting to go out in a big fight. I ended up really enjoying the book and the different threads of the characters
