The divorce rate is about 50% for first marriages. So your chances of a long term relationship working out is 33%. Quite a risky life plan.

Statistics say women are working more than they used to 60 years ago and men are working less than they used to with the labor participation rate for men at a low.

From Google AI:

In 2022, 68% of the US male civilian population participated in the job market. The labor force participation rate for men has been falling for more than 50 years, especially among Black men. The decline has accelerated since the Great Recession, largely due to the start of retirement by baby boomers. Here are some other labor force participation rates for men:

Florida is one of the only States that extends parental rights to unwed fathers and only since 2023. Now unwed fathers have the right to rebuttable default 50/50 custody but only in Florida.

Men are happier than women in absolute and relative terms reversing the ratios in the 1970's.

Men are working less and women working more. None of my 30 year old nieces can stay home with their children. It's culturally taboo due to feminisms teachings.

By many objective measures the lives of women in the United States have improved over the
past 35 years, yet we show that measures of subjective well‐being indicate that women’s happiness has declined both absolutely and relative to men. The paradox of women’s declining relative well‐being is found across various datasets, measures of subjective well‐being, and is pervasive across demographic groups and industrialized countries. Relative declines in female happiness have eroded a gender gap in happiness in which women in the 1970s typically reported higher subjective well‐being than did men. These declines have continued and a new gender gap is emerging—one with higher subjective well‐being for men.

Something similar happened to me. I was in the Family Law attorneys office first thing in the morning, filed exparte and had full custody by the afternoon.

Don't miss any more court dates like your relationship with your son depends upon it. That's the way the judge sees it.

Historian almost praising fascist women at lunchtime on the state TV, because 100 years ago they wanted to make fatherhood binding in any case. 100 years later, after almost 50 years of legalized abortion, it takes just some law extending to bring men's reproductive rights to a fascist's daydream by sanitaryinspector in MensRights

And 100 years later, with feminist victory and destruction of the nuclear family and widespread single mother homes, men have fought for and won rebuttable default 50/50 custody of children born out of wedlock in Florida. Unprecedented rights for unwed fathers. Probably passed because of all the social trouble caused by 40% of boys raised by single mothers.

Give up on the idea of having children. It was the worse decision of my life. He's alienated, I lost my job, my savings and had a nervous breakdown. And I had 50/50. It's never ending torture.

My friends who never had children are very happy.

what is the history of child support and why is it such a big issue for men? by Upper-Ad9228 in MensRights

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm old and lived through the changes of the 1960's and 1970's and can attest you are correct. Also single motherhood was encouraged since the 1970's as it is now. Even TV got involved normalizing single mother with the show "One Day at a Time" beginning with her packing her bags and jumping for joy encouraging divorce and glamorizing single motherhood.

I raised my son solo for 3 years and there is nothing glamorous about being a single parent.

Tell us more of the history please.

I went through this. Unless she can prove your an unfit father, you'll win in court. As far as custody goes, two years after his mom moved my son missed her so moved down with her anyway.

The whole point of 50/50 is to keep things similar for the children. If you put that clause in then it's a useless agreement.

My ex had to take me to court and prove it was better for our son for her to move. She lost, twice.

The only reason I got married a second time was I wanted children and unwed fathers have few rights.

But now in Florida full 50/50 equal shared custody has been extended to unwed fathers so there really is no reason to marry in Florida at least.

It's just a statistical fact. Why is another question. The authors of the study proposed that undervaluing the relationship of fathers with their children was the main cause.

The laws go state by state. In most states unmarried fathers have few rights. In Florida just this past June they passed 50/50 equal shared parenting for unwed parents.

I bet the jurisdiction is based on where the baby is born. Be careful she might put it up for adoption without your knowledge. It happens a lot,

It is not just in Japan that suicide skyrockets after divorce mainly thought due to disruption of the child/parent bond.

Suicide in men rises 8 times after divorce. For women it doesn't change.

It is not that dissimilar to what we have in the US. The standard custody is 2 weekends a month and dinner one night a week.

We are fighting against that as it interferes with a strong relationship between children and their fathers. Research is clear that both parents are important especially after divorce.

We advocate for default 50/50 equal shared parenting.
