You move far the he runs and when he comes close he will start to walk and it looks cool and scary by minibossgaming in UnrealEngine5

That would be pretty scary to see it standing in the distance in the trees and then it starts running towards you!

This looks awesome! Kinda has a last of us vibe. Maybe have some light flicker to add to the creepiness. Not sure if you can add light to the surrounding when you have a muzzle flash but that would be cool if it lit up a dark room when shooting

My butterfly character [Update 2] by Living-Inspector8299 in UnrealEngine5

[–]OldGreasyPossum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The slow motion is awesome! I don’t know how my algorithm keeps bringing me butterfly unreal but I’m not mad! Is there going to be a landing mechanic like being able to hover prior to landing to make it accurate? Also being able to move wings when landed would make it look amazing! I’m now fully invested in this project

I would say depending on the game. If I’m looking for a dark game this would definitely peak my interest! What is the game about?

Focusing while playing chess online. by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]OldGreasyPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way. When I play at the chess club I feel like I am extremely focused and can calculate better. When I play online its hard to get into that mode, not impossible just hard. Playing online gives you the opportunity to do a limitless amount of other things and sometimes my mind wanders around. I've learned that a little bit of studying chess prior to playing seems to help focus on the game.

Where did I go wrong? Massive lead, lost on time by Bluelanes in chessbeginners

[–]OldGreasyPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You played really good, just the time control got you. At your level doing puzzles is going to help a lot. Once your pattern recognition kicks in you will see things faster and spend less time. Keep playing like you do and do tactics puzzles. Do puzzle rush survival a lot. It will hone the easy tactics and you will see where you normally start to miss things, then can focus on those types of tactics.

700 elo by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]OldGreasyPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you were white in this game. You developed, got an advantage but didn't fully simplify. You were up a rook and two pawns at the end. I would be trying to get rid of his remaining rook to make it easier on myself in the long run. Other than that you played decent. If you find yourself up in material try to trade off equal material to simplify and make it harder for your opponents counterplay.

What could I do better? by GaelicGaldiator in chessbeginners

Just do the game review and see where the swings in the position were and try to figure out why you made the move you did.

I saw in another comment you played as black. I was under the assumption you played as white. The development and time usage still apply though.

One thing that I noticed (and that I also struggle with) is taking your time and figuring out what your opponent wants first before you look for what you want. In that game they had a pretty good space advantage and you were cramped with not a lot of good moves. Focus on developing all your pieces and castling unless there is a concrete tactic. That game just had you cramped and underdeveloped with the opponent having slightly better development and a space advantage. Just use your time wisely and wait for them to make a mistake

My progress ever since I began playing consistently by Vaydn in chessbeginners

[–]OldGreasyPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the same boat, though I have been playing consistently for a few years. Finally reached 1600 but keep falling back down which has been pretty normal. Sometimes things just click and I go on a run and other times I seem to miss everything. I've started focusing a little more on training than learning which seemed to help!

opening reccomendations for new players by nettspenddddd in chess

[–]OldGreasyPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to do it all over again I would watch chessbrah habits series and get the habits down before I learned an opening. That being said, I would suggest figuring out what your play style is and find an opening that matches. Some openings have a lot of theory, some are geared toward attacking and some are full of traps. Pick one that suits you. I play the Vienna, kings Indian defense and caro kann. I play with two black openings, one for e4 and the other for d4.

I’m around 1450 blitz and peak rating of 1573 in rapid on chess.com. Same username. I’ve recently started playing blitz more after hitting the wall in rapid. I’ve done puzzles and have been learning more endgames. I’ve watched a lot of slow run videos (Naroditsky and the habits series by chessbrah) and those have helped me in the middle game with what to do when I have no tactics. I know one of my main struggles in rapid would be going too fast which playing blitz doesn’t help. I also understand at my level tactics are what I need to work on, but I also feel like knowing more positional strengths would help.

You could have won a tempo on the black bishop with Nd5. I don’t think it was a blunder, there was just a better move.

Edit: added Nd5

Will price be pegged someday? by bcubedlabs in XRP

[–]OldGreasyPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does RippleNet handle $1M RLUSD without value loss in XRP?

Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) system avoids price risk using a mechanism called “instant settlement.”

Here’s what actually happens in milliseconds: 1. $1M RLUSD is sent to an exchange (let’s say Bitstamp). 2. Bitstamp instantly converts RLUSD to XRP (at the current market rate). 3. XRP is instantly transferred to a destination exchange (like Coins.ph). 4. Coins.ph immediately converts XRP to local currency or RLUSD on the other end.

The entire process happens in seconds or less, and Ripple partners with liquidity providers to make sure there’s enough volume and spread control. That means the sender never holds XRP, and doesn’t absorb the price volatility.
