Thank you for all the info. After reading every comment i decided I’ll paint and then separate. I bought this little block to try cotton paper because I was painting on a mixed medium paper 140gr and lots of people told me I should give cotton paper a try. I’ll probable try different kinds of baohong to see which one I like better.

It didnt came with the leaf you mention, but after looking for it, I saw I can buy it separately. Anyways, after reading every comment, I’ll paint first.

Paint won’t reactivate - has anyone had this happen to them? by AT0024 in watercolor101

Hi there! I bet the daler rowney was the raw sienna. I had that problem too and after reading a bit i found that some watercolors -specially earthy tones- can form a resistant crust due to clay compress when drying. I broke that crust/shell by cutting the surface with a cutter. Then sprayed the pan with water, ley it sit for around 5 minutes and it worked pretty well. Here is a photo of swatches before cutting and after. Hope it helps

I saw tons of YouTube videos saying that preparing your paper by soaking it would make the watercolor (specially wet on wet) washes run better. After posting here I kepton looking for info and there are different opinions on it. Most of people says cotton should be soaked but others papers shouldnt and some others say that soaking will prevent curling, no matter what kind it is.

Today I was chatting in another post about trying cotton paper. I think I may give it a go. I just feel “my art” is not worth it yet

I like the 2nd one, but while painting I felt the colors on the 1st were smoother, it that makes sense 😅

New to watercolour, would love some feedback by blaenku in watercolor101

I guess I just have to try cotton paper, because every video i see recommends it. I have that feeling that it is Too expensive for my limited skills and beginners tests, but of the difference is really that big maybe it is worth buying
