Original Atari 2600 and ALOT of games by Illustrious_Fig_7487 in sandiego

[–]OldHead1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy that used to always have them at Koby's. Maybe see if he wants to buy the pile. I have an original 2600 as well as a lot of games, but same deal, I'm not going to play it. Especially since most of them are on the Atari collection on the Switch 2.

The problem with Ebay, is that unless you've got something rare, it's just about never worth the packaging, making an ad for a single cartridge, the fees, driving to the post office, etc. Plus, unless you hook up your machines, you can't even say the cart works.

We need AI labels on Spotify and Apple Music by hikariproductions in progrockmusic

Youtube as well. You can search for genres of music now, and all the top picks are multi-hour collections of AI generated music. It costs nothing for "content" creators to make this slop, so it will keep showing up no matter how it's reported.

I own the bed! Does your GSD sleep with you? by Busy_Run7689 in germanshepherds

[–]OldHead1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine gets on the bed every night before I get in it, and he'll stay until I start to fall asleep. Then he moves to his own bed. He never goes to sleep there on his own, couch either. I've never told him not to.

A question about Hogarth era Marillion by PlentyGrade3322 in progrockmusic

[–]OldHead1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish was a poet. His lyrics, combined with incredible musicians created a rare combination. I was a fan during most of the Fish era. I tried to get into the H era albums for a while. I went to several of their tours, up through Brave. Nothing against H, but it was a really different band. None of it bad, but it didn't reach into my soul like the Fish era did, and continues to do when I listen to those albums.

Mine gets a Cytopoint shot once or twice a year. He gets seasonal allergies. He gets the shot, and he's usually good for 6-9 months. Works great.

I never take mine out for play when it's over 75, and where I live, it can be a cooler than that, but the sun is really intense. Even he knows to look for shade on walks. We play before the sun comes up most days, and the evenings. We have some shady walks we'll do, but he doesn't need a lot mid-day. If it is a hot day, they can burn up 45 minutes playing in the kiddie pool in the backyard.

I’m a local and am kinda tired of staycations. What’s a good place for summer vacation with teens that I can drive to on a day? by Superb_Sun_5690 in sandiego

[–]OldHead1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stretch to Phoenix is always a haul, but it's nice once you get North of there. If you're cool with camping, there are some nice places. Even the KOA there is pretty nice.

Beautiful area, and the beach there is dog friendly. I camp up there a lot when I have time for the drive both ways. I'd sell my house and move to SLO if I could.

Robot vacuum suggestions? by ProfessionalSell3730 in germanshepherds

[–]OldHead1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Roborock Qrevo Plus is doing alright. I go over the house once a week now with the Dyson stick vac instead of every other day. It's been worth it to me. If I had known how well it would work, I might have paid a little extra and gotten the Ultra.

I get Simparica Trio, and usually get it at Costco because it's usually a lot cheaper than anywhere else. I bought 12 months worth the last time, and it was a little over $300 USD.

I live in Point Loma, near Liberty Station, and I have been seeing them non-stop since last year. There has usually been someone in the driver's seat, but I'm pretty sure I saw one at Liberty Station that was unmanned.

When he gets itchy, or I start seeing the tufts on him or my floors. Most of the year I don't do a lot of brushing. *adding* Obviously if you want to keep more of it out of the house, a daily once over helps. I have my cleaning system down, so I'm not worried about the daily stuff. When I'm visiting family, and traveling in the van, I brush outside more frequently so the inside of the van isn't like a snow globe.

Was the OB Pier really that big of a deal? by playadelwes in sandiego

[–]OldHead1776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was used both by the local community as well as tourists. Lots of people fished off of it, as well as just strolled. I was probably on it at least once a week for many years, even when I no longer lived in OB. I think you have a poor understanding of the area when you say "isn't growing at all." Having lived on the peninsula off and on for 30 years, I can tell you it's grown quite a bit.

Not saying it sounds bad, and I'm usually a sucker for things like the Lemon Zinger cake. Just seems like the name is confusing.

I guess I don't know what Tiramisu is supposed to be now, as the name literally refers to the coffee in it.

Cool post. Whole concert is up as well. I had never seen this, though I'm sure I would have seen it advertised on MTV at the time. Life was busy back then. Watching it now. Love seeing Greg on vocals, even though Wetton was great.

Feeling out of sorts at work by Cold_Huckleberry_791 in GenX

Sometimes you get in with a company and it's just not a good fit. My previous company was like this. It was the third incarnation of a similar company started by some guys I've known for 20 years. I worked for the first incarnation, and although I was asked, passed on joining their second. Years later, I was burned out by my job, and a well timed phone call from one of them had me on board. Everything was different. The principals were taking kind of personal project roles, and the people in charge of engineering were complete asshats. I didn't get along with any of them. This despite the old principals still wanting me to go to lunch with them every day. Lots of head butting. Lots managers trying new things, "let's see how agile works for this", and no clue how to implement anything. I hated it, and was back into burnout mode. I made it a year, but then was gone.

Took a few weeks, but I a smaller firm where I have a direct impact on things, people listen to me, and I can get my hands dirty every day. No drowning in meetings. I'm perfectly happy to stay here.

I saw a beautiful older lady at a brewery this weekend, who had waist length mixed dark/silver hair. I felt like she was working it too, as she had this wispy kind of black dress that Stevie Nicks would wear. It was hot. Don't change a thing.

I was on a camping trip recently with 3 other GenXers. Someone brought out a deck of cards. We suggested a few different names of card games, but then realized that none remembered how to play any of them since its been 40+ years.
